I know the Simmons hate is strong around here, but what he's doing as a rookie is pretty incredible. More than that, the 76ers have won 4 out of 5 with their only loss being by one point to Houston. They are now 4-4.

Can Simmons move the 76ers to a playoff team in the East? A top 4 seed?

His stats are incredible:LINK

Then, you have Jayson Tatum, starting for the Celtics and averaging 13.8 ppg and 6.6 rpg. He's only 19 years old. And, he's playing strong defense too for the team with the best record in the NBA with the #1 scoring defense.

Both of these guys are future stars.

Who else do you think breaks out of this NBA class to become household names?

6ers will make the playoffs if embiid stays relatively healthy.. Reckon they play like a 52 win team when’s he’s on the court. And a 10 win team when he’s off.

Only a matter of time Ie a year or two until Simmons / embiid is the best front court in the league.

The Simmons hate is unwarranted.

He averaged a double-double with a shitty coach at a school that isn't known for basketball.

He had his choice of any school in the country and he chose LSU. If the NBA rules would allow players to go straight from high school, there was no shot he would have gone to college.

Blakeney should get blamed more. We had two 5 star recruits, one sucked and the other was incredible.

Johnny Jones should get 99% of the blame.

He's classified as a rookie since he didn't play the year he was drafted.

Blake Griffin won rookie of the year the same way.

Markkanen has been really good, not sure why people were so down on him. And while I like Tatum and am impressed I will still take Jonathan Issac as the best wing from this class.

He's a freakish shooter, maybe he doesn't have a super high ceiling but he's going to have a Ryan Anderson type impact at least.

The Finnish guy from Chicago can really shoot

And Dennis smith was supposed to be averaging 20ppg by now but he's been decent

I think he has a really high offesnive ceiling even if his defense never pans out. Think I had him #5 or #6 overall player entering into the draft

Kuzma's good. But this is Simmons's award to lose.

Though I don't really like how second year players can win ROTY. I know he was injured but still don't like it.

The people saying "LSU fans suck for shitting on Simmons" never watched the Simmons HBO documentary. Sure, the kid was good but fans want players to AT LEAST PRETEND they somewhat care about their team and school. Simmons openly and often said he didn't give a shite about LSU. Plus he disappeared the last 10 minutes of big games.

I get why he wouldn't care, but come on ... Suck it the frick up and pretend to embrace a community that's happy to have you.
