yet the Sixers or Lakers fans are going to be ecstatic about drafting him

they no doubt will be, same as LSU fans were when he signed with LSU. but he is a project that will take years to develop.

But even Bender could slip by Simmons for the #2 pick. I see Simmons going to the Celtics with the 3rd pick or even lower.

Years to develop his full potential? Sure just like any other player.

But he has skills and the body that will immediately translate to the NBA.

Might sound terrible, but I'd be amazed if the kid can read his own contract, considering his academic prowess at LSU.

If he thinks Simmons is a project what the hell does he make of Dragan Bender, a virtual unknown who has never played in the states and is considered pretty raw by evaluators?

Though I guess I should stop trying to see the logic in his posts, clear he just doesn't like Simmons for whatever reason.

If the 76ers take him, and he's on another bad basketball team, do you think he mails it in again?

Leading your major college basketball team in points, assists, rebounds, blocks, and steals =/= project.

Jesus the stupidity is overflowing this morning. I blame it on the NBA playoffs.

I think the issue is his ceiling is higher than what he put out, especially later in the season. And he had some off the court drama to add to it. He's got a great skill set, but we both know there's been plenty of great players with tons of talent that can't get out of their own way. I think it's a reasonable question to ask how he'll handle being on a team that's not a traditionally good program or a winner right now.

All fair criticisms, but none of it means he is a project. People label any freshmen or foreign player as a project, which is dumb.

Save it. For all his offense, he was shite on defense.

Not to mention he couldn't close out a game to save his life.

Let the Lakers have the non-shooting choke artist.
