I have to admit, the Falcons looked a hell of a lot better than i expected against arguably the best team in the league at their own field, outside, in cold environment.

I am fine playing a sleeper role if we can play like we did on offense and be able to shore up the defense at all and stop the dumbfrickery in coaching.

Seriously, if we can find some sort of hidden talent on defense next year and fire the frick out of Mike Nolan we would be a decent team. All we need with our offensive prowess is a defense that can come up with that one extra stop. The one thing the Falcons have lacked since the Mike Smith era has been a decent defense, which is odd considering Smith's pedigree in Jacksonville as a defensive guy. I think it more or less falls on Nolan though. We all wanted his hire to be a great thing, and maybe he just hasn't been afforded the proper pieces via draft, but his system is failing. I think if anyone takes the fall in the off-season it has to be him. Maybe we can bring in Rex Ryan as DC and let him know that if the team doesn't succeed in the following season, that he get the HC gig.

I don't know how you can blame Nolan with the personnel we have on D. He drew up a perfect blitz tonight and Biermann straight whiffed... Our D has done enough this season to put us in position to win games, hell I think they have overachieved.

Now if you think these are "his" players and he was the one suggesting we draft them then by all means fire his arse.

The Julio trade depleted our D and we have whiffed in the draft. Not much more to it

hurt far more than

especially if Dimitroff would've blown those picks too.

Kroy absolutely whiffed on that play, you are correct. However, what about all the other times when Rodgers had 5-6 seconds to sit in the pocket because we were rushing 3 or 4. I realize defense is more of a damned if you do/damned if you don't but our defensive personnel signed in the off-season were for Nolan. Soliai and Jackson were brought in to be pass rushers and they have not done anything. Maybe it's the fact that we have a bunch of 5th-7th and some undrafted guys playing on our defense. However, if we had taken Clowney this year instead of Matthews we would be worse than we are now. I would love for us to finally draft decently and I think now that Pioli is here, he will definitely help us.
