Are any games happening tomorrow night? Case by case basis?

I haven't seen any broad announcements.

Every announcement I have seen is that games with teams from AP, LP, the North Shore, the River Parishes, the Bayou Parishes, and the New Orleans area is canceled. Some of the BR schools are looking for new opponents to try to still play a game.

I’m interested to see what St Amant does. First 4 weeks of regular season play are all against NOLA schools, and it looks as if it may be a while before they get power back over there. I’m sure they won’t start football back up until they at least get power back.

Didn't know that. I was wondering if Rosenwald in New Roads was converted back to a high school.

Because they can't attend school in Ascension this week there won't be in games involving AP teams.
St. Amant's non-district schedule is a head scratcher. They've got a veteran coach with tremendous numbers yet they play a putrid schedule, almost like rent-a-wins to have as many home games at The Pit rather than travel and play somebody like they did in year's past with Lutcher. That was a good series.

Brother Martin is slated to come to West Monroe next week. I'm interested in seeing if that game takes place or not. Rummel already canceled with Ruston next week.

They charged $96 for a season ticket for 8 home games… $12 a game. If I was their fan I’d be pissed

Chalmette charged $32 for 5 home games (well now 4)

Except their home games for the first month were going to be played on Thursday nights at Dutchtown High anyways since their turf is still not completely finished

If they play the teams scheduled they will be undefeated because of the poor level of competition.

I hate that they stopped scheduling Lutcher. I think St Amant and Lutcher should play every single year. It’s always one of the better football games in the area every single year. I loved that we brought the rivalry back while I was in high school but I hate that they took it away again.

That’s always been how Oliver schedules. Like I understand whenever he first got here, he took over a program who had back to back 0-10 or 1-9 seasons I believe. So in order to build the program up, you gotta win a lot of games on paper. Once 2013 hit, they should have started scheduling tougher non district games but they kept the same non district formula as before, rent a wind, except they added Lutcher to the rotation. What sucked about the rent a wins is, we did that with Warren Easton 4 seasons in a row, from 2011-2014, and we never beat them once. The 2012 game got canceled because of Isaac, but we paid those guys every single year to come to our place, so we wouldn’t have to go over there, and they’d beat us every time.

If it were up to me, I’d have one rent a win game, and that’s your homecoming game, Lutcher every year, rotate between one of the 3 big river parish schools every 2 years, a 4-5A school not in LP, and an LP school. I know there’s more to it then just that but I think we need to play bigger games, especially if we want the program to get to the next level. It’s like we can’t ever get past a certain point as a program.

This year, we would have had 8 home games at The Pit, and 7 next year, and all of them minus the district games, are rent a wins. Now, a big reason for that could be because some videoboard company, leased out one of their videoboards for us to use for the next 5 years, at a very discounted price or something like that. Part of the deal is that we have to show a certain number of sponsors that the videoboard company wants shown over the next 5 years, so they may have scheduled like that so that they can get all of their sponsors in on the videoboard during the season.

Now, a lot of what I just said is speculation, but I do know we made some deal with a videoboard company in order to get one at a discounted price. I don’t know all of the details with the videoboard, and I don’t really understand how APSB allowed St Amant to get one, whenever the other 3 public schools aren’t getting one. APSB has always been about all of the 4 public schools having the same exact resources as each other. Glenn Dorsey tried to pay for EA to get turf several years back, and the school board shot it down, because the other 3 schools wouldn’t have had turf, and it would have been an “advantage” to EA. No one is supposed to have an advantage in resources and facilities. All the other stuff I said is just my opinion on maybe why the schedule is the way it is. We usually have an average non district schedule, but whenever our schedule came out for this season, I was very disappointed because that’s as weak of a schedule that I’ve ever seen from us.

I’m sure there are some St Amant people on here who have a lot better connections then I do, and maybe they can fill in on the videoboard thing, and if that has anything to do with the weak schedule.

But they were scheduled to be at The Pit, before the delays in construction and stuff happened. Maybe now we’ll be forced to find tougher opponents, if those NOLA schools are unable to play us.
