I present to the youths Bash at the Beach '98...perhaps the height of WCW and professional wrestling's hold on America...When The Mailman was Diamond Cutting his arse off against Hollywood Hulk Hogan and Rod The Bod, the Dirty Dog, Rodzilla.

The Diamond Cutter was always the go to move on the trampoline. The RKO is better executed and smoother, but DDP was the OG.

Booker T. when asked a couple weeks ago on what was going on behind the scenes when Rodman came into WCW: "A lot of cocaine"

Imagine booking one of your biggest matches ever with all the mainstream attention and you decide it should end with Brutus the F'n Barber Beefcake using his (stolen) finisher on the good guys.

Not Nash. Not Hall. Not Hennig. Not macho man. Not Steiner. But instead let's use Beefcake to win the match

Mailman was legit amazing in this, except for his shitty clothesline.

Dude was jacked, into it and could move. I could see that country baw from Lincoln Parish being in Bill Watts Mid South tearing it up with JYD if he were 10 years older.

Who was booking WCW at this time?

I never realized it when I was in the moment, and I wanted Hogan to always have the belt, but looking back at how shitty WCW was booked, it's no wonder it died a sad death... Well that and the patent company apparently hating wrestling.

There was never a guy like Vince to nix terrible ideas, plus too many guys had creative control in their contracts.

So you get Brutus Beefcake doing a shite finish when the ref isnt looking.

Bischoff and Kevin Sullivan were the main ones. Kevin Nash had some pull too.

Most of the big name guys like Hogan, Nash, and Hall had creative control over their characters and had title run stipulations. Then you pull over other guys with that same pull - Brett Hart, Ultimate Warrior, Piper - and it was going to be a disaster.

And then they inserted that hack Vince Russo into the mix.

Hogan in that heel role is money. Go back and watch him at the peak of nWo...pure gold.
