Unless this is rec or AA the kid needs to move positions or move teams.

My son plays major level in one of the most competitive areas of the country in the Houston area. I can't remember seeing LH kids playing the left side of the IF since maybe 9u ball.

If the kid is not big and hes athletic move him to CF now.

lefties do not play catcher at competitive HS programs. Argue all you want...not happening.

sure but i don't think its based on anything worth that much of a frick. High school only speaking. If you have a dude with the skillset, being a lefty should not be a deal breaker at all.

umm bullshite lol. that little extra bit of time it take him.....yea good teams are stealing bases on that. At a high level school the 1st base coach or someone in the dugout has the stop watch and is timing the pitcher every pitch and the catcher every throw down

not to mention, most HS hitters are right handed, all they have to do is bunt and its much more of an issue for a LH catcher than RH.

those little tenths of a second can be the difference in winning and losing.

He’s better than the team’s alternative. The end. You’re arguing in theologies and not reality.

please detail me the disadvantage of a lefty throwing down to 2nd or fielding a bunt. lmao.

Waayy back in the day we were getting our asses kicked in a summer league game (18U maybe?) and their team played an entire infield of lefties for the last inning. It was hysterical.

Umm I did….because he is left handed and most batters are right handed they can delay the throw down by squaring to bunt and missing on purpose

Not to mention on throws to 3rd it’s slower because of body positioning

Literally no catcher at any competitive HS or above is left handed for a reason

Believe what you want but they are slower to throw to 3rd. Slower on throw to 2nd when right handed hitter is in etc

There is actual math that proves all this
