After watching that I think, No, I know that Chicago has unquestionably the biggest a-hole fans in all of sports. That was absolutely painful to watch. I seriously was pissed off especially when they interviewed the Douche Bag, Jim Cuthbert who seemed quite proud of his bullying.

You think they turned him down? The dude doesn't do interviews.

I'm sure they tried to get him, but he probably refused

yea something has to be kind of off with this guy. he seemed out of it during the game, little interaction with his "friends", still lived with his parents, still refuses every interview. I just don't understand how he can pass up all the money from interviews or a book deal. he could actually profit from the incident and have a great life but instead remains reclusive and probably antisocial. definitely feel bad for the guy he certainly didn't deserve all the hate but he still seems like a weird dude to me.

I have to agree. As a lifelong Cubs fan, Steve Bartman has always fascinated me. I've been waiting to hear from him for 8 years now, and I realize that he's probably not going to speak about this anytime soon, if ever. I could understand waiting for things to cool down after getting death threats, but I seriously doubt that his life would be in anymore danger if he came out and talked and made some cash than it already is...hell, everyone knows his name and where he lives. I find it very strange that he's never wanted to speak about this incident. He could even give some sob story about how his life has been since then, and would probably get a ton of sympathy from most people. Very strange.

did you not watch the documentary?

As a cubs fan this only resurfaced buried pain. I found myself watching it reliving that day saying to myself "How in the hell did this happen". That was an awesome team.
Bartman is a nerd. Yeah he didnt do anything that any other fan wouldnt have done in reaching for the foul ball, but had he manned up about it and told the rest of the cubs nation "I fricked up, get over it." He would just be a trivia question instead of D.B. Cooper. He would have to deal with the occasional "where is he now?" interviews on the aniversarys of the event but instead he goes reclusive creating more mystery and interest.

he was just a guy - a lot of people wouldn't even know where to start
he was one of like five people reaching for the same ball and got singled out with his home address published and his face plastered all over the place.
the fans were pretty much mindless angry sheep tho - the people who could have held it together and kept things in perspective were:
1) members of the media (TV kept putting his face up there during the game and the newspapers/local reporters hounded him afterwards)
2) and probably Moises Alou (if he doesn't flip out then I think the whole vibe in the stadium would not have changed into "oh shite we're gonna lose now")

A couple of years ago '06 or '07, I was in Chicago and he was offerend a 100K cash to sign one baseball. He didn't show.

You cant blame Alou. Just like Bartman did what any fan would do and reached for the ball. Alou did what any player would do when interfered with. He was going to make the catch. It was a big game and it was a home crowd.
The cubs problem is not because of a curse. it's because the fans are content to be lovable loosers. The stadium is always filled regardless of the product on the field. management has no motivation to produce as long as the team is in the black.

He was obviously in shock of what happened. Thats why he sat there. They even mentioned that he didn't know what happened in that game after the incident.
He released a statement the day after the game. What more do you want of the guy? He's being careful with his life.
The people to blame in this are the media for leaking his home pictures and address...that was sickening.
The other people to blame are Alex Gonzalez and our pitching staff, that was awful.

you have to blame Alou in at least a relative sense because he was the professional involved in the play
he should have been there trying to make a play but he should have remembered when you try to make a play on a ball fans can reach - sometimes they try to catch the ball
because the stage was bigger that day he became more emotional about it and things rapidly spiraled out of control.
Yes, it would have an impressive act of self control but that's what big games call for
