UF fans are happy we got Beal instead of Rivers. Was he that bad of a cancer?

Good. As a Hornets fan I want as many players in this draft as possible.

Honestly no one probably knows, but he didn't seem to make the team any better as a whole. Duke was better last year than they were this year by far and Duke was preseason top 5 which was almost entirely banking on Rivers being "the guy". So something didn't add up because he never showed much of what was supposed to be there to carry Duke to warrant such high regards preseason and frankly postseason considering all the honors he received which is bullshite.

I have seen a few duke games this year but rivers seemed to complain to the refs when things going his way and not distributing the ball, maybe coach k encouraged him to go. I know his dad is making money so his family isnt starving for money.

Seriously. Go watch all of Duke's games and tell me if Rivers legitimately made that team better. I can think of only 1 game that maybe Duke wouldn't have won without him, all the others you could have easily had someone else on the court. Think about the volume of shots he took every game. That took away from curry and Kelly which were already proven shooters. You saw how much worse Duke was without Kelly against Lehigh.

Never go full retard.

The 'Austin Rivers is a cancer' line was created by UNC fans that were butt hurt that he committed to Duke and not UNC. He was the hardest working and best player on Duke's team this year and was liked by his teammates. Seth Curry on the other hand...

Meh, I think the season Duke had speaks for itself. Rivers was not the catalyst everyone thought. Plain and simple.

Usually coach expects players to stay 3 to 4 yrs, it just seems strange for him to leave early.

Only Roy Williams turns one and done players into 3 year guys. Duke expected Rivers to go pro after one year, just like Florida does with Beal, UK with Davis, etc.

Maybe the celtics plan on trading up for him? Or think they have a shot at landing him? Dont they have 2 first rounders

I just don't get the logic of him coming out then. He has the best support team of ANY of the early entrees..I would think doc would be honest with his son and tell him he's got something's to work on.

But maybe he left it to him to make the decision. But I could also see him leaving because he has a NBA tailored game, and there isn't much CBB can do to improve it
