Austin was a heck of a player 2021-2023. Also didn’t he just return from injury. He will be back to form soon.

OPS by year:

2021- .898
2022- .878
2023- .861
2024- .783
2025- .746

To say this is an alarming trend is probably an understatement.

It is alarming. What else is alarming is that the powers at be decided it was time to reward what turned out to be this decline for a historic long term contract. What a stupid GM!

Stupid GM has been around for a good number of wins. Plenty of years left for Riley to improve.

Hitting .316/.353/.463 with runners in scoring position this year

Where you getting that from? I'm seeing numbers much lower. Not terrible, but nowhere near an 810 OPS.

Plus, "clutch" would not include getting a bases loaded hit when you're up by 10 runs. So, to the poster that mocked us that "watch the games", yes, he would be considered very unclutch, as are most of the Barves this year.

I want him to do well and he’s probably a great person and this might be cherry picking “clutch situations” but he is abysmal bases loaded. .077 this year and .164 career. He actually got his first bases loaded hit this season just this week!!! Now there may be some stat that shows he’s been unlucky that whole time but if you look at the $200 million contracts these guys totally rake bases loaded. He had a couple hot years and we totally overpaid imo.

He's paid about 22M a year.

You aren't paying him top dollar-- that's good for 7th, and you have team control for another 7 years.

This seems like a whole lot of bitching for a slight overpay at worst.
