The closest thing we will get to that before then is when we go to LA at the end of the week, but even then, the stakes for that series won’t be that high.
The “actual” stakes won’t be that high, but I think both teams will treat it like a playoff series. Let’s see if we can flip a switch. And with all the wild cards now, pennant races don’t matter that much and the casuals are waiting till October to tune in. But we’ve developed a nice little rivalry with the Dodgers the last few years, and more eyes might be on this series with probably the 2 best teams in baseball facing off in what could be a preview if another NLCS matchup. And home field will be in play at least some. If somebody goes off, that may jump them in the front of the MVP race. Rightly or wrongly.

By the way, I’m not nearly as high on Shuster as some of you and would have had no problem trading him at the deadline or in a package in the offseason. His ceiling is super low imo. I don’t he’s more than a 5th starter on a good staff. At best.

Boog is a pro.
I miss him doing Braves games.

I think his pitchmix alone gives him a ceiling of a possible 3 in the rotation.
For our needs specifically though, we have so few LHP starters on our farm, which could become a glaring hole for us if Fried is gone after next year.
ETA: I don’t think he was ready for the amount of MLB innings he has logged this year.

Completely disagree.
Of course you do, you think all the Braves are the bestest. Lol.
I do agree with Broski, that he is wasn’t ready for as many big league innings as he’s gotten. And we do need some more LH starters in the system. But I’ve been screaming about the importance of velocity for 2 years now. If you sit in the low 90s, you have to have pin point command of all your pitches and be able to throw all of them in any count. There’s just no room for error if he misses over the plate. His mistakes get punished. And so do some of his “good” pitches. 90 just doesn’t play anymore without a ton of movement.

What a shitty first time through the order

Looks like hand tat is gonna play with fire and give us a second look at him.

He’s throwing an 85 mph 2 seamer/“cutter” and an 83 mph slider/change up off a 90/91 mph fastball. That does not play in 2023. Especially since he has no idea where any of them are going.

Fastball is more 91-92 than 90-91 and it’s coming from the left side. Not saying it’s amazing stuff, but he’s not the first low 90’s LHP and he won’t be the last. Helps to have 3-4 other pitches off of it too, depending on how is curveball develops.
I’ll put it this way, I think Shuster is a much more complete pitcher than Ian Anderson.

We really need Ronnie to start putting balls in the air again.

I'd more rather someone sit low 90's and be able to pitch than being able to throw through a brick wall and have no idea where it's going.
ETA: Looking at you, Folty.

Sundays in general. Just shitty. Almost as if we throw away Sunday games.
espn game they passive aggressively call against us and we lose regardless.

10-10 so far this year on Sundays, way below our season rate.
