Didn't look like Gosselin touched the bag.

Gosselin/Arcia will suffice for the month or so until Ozzie gets back.

Define suffice.

Snitker already said mid-August for Ozzie at the earliest.

Hope we don't lose Wright to a rain delay

He's already approaching 80 pitches, so he likely only has 1-2 innings left anyway.

As long as he didn't implode, I think he would have gotten through 6. Would like to not have to burn the bullpen tonight. We'll probably need the pen to cover at least 5 innings tomorrow.

You're willing to burn assets for basically a 4-6 week rental?

That doesn't make sense.

If Ozzie had been out for the season, then it would make sense.

Bro, we got Rosario for a mascot last year.

Soler, Joc, and Duvall were all dirt cheap too.

But Acuna was out for the year.

You're comparing apples to grapefruits.

Soler

Gave up Kasey Kalich who is 24 years old and still in High-A, not even in the Royals top 30 prospects

Joc

Gave up Bryce Ball who isn't in the Cubs top 30

Duvall

Gave up Alex Jackson, who the Marlins have since traded to the Brewers and while he has bounced between AAA and MLB, you could hardly call him an asset that we miss.

What does that have ANYTHING to do with you thinking we need to give up an asset to get an actual MLB 2B?

Hell, this wouldn't even be just a 6-week plan, trade for someone that can play 2B until Ozzie comes back and then once he returns, you've upgraded your bench, something we needed to do before Ozzie went down anyway.

Stop playing checkers and come join the chess game.

The Braves took fliers on some guys that worked out last year. That sort of thing doesn't just happen every time, and so I don't know who is out there that the Braves could acquire for a bag of chips, that would improve second base in any noteworthy way. Our offense is doing fine, otherwise, and Arcia is a good defender. There isn't a desperate need to get someone else until Ozzie gets back.

I think if the Braves thought they needed someone else, they would have gotten someone already. They knew what they had, and they know the rest of the lineup can get it done until Ozzie comes back.

I think they wanted to see if Arcia could find some of his early Brewers form, hasn't happened unfortunately.

It's also still early in terms of relation to the deadline, but if this Arcia/Gosselin production keeps up the rest of this month, then it's going to happen. Remember, we didn't make the first OF trade (Joc) until right after the All Star break. Yeah, Acuna's injury may have forced our hand a little bit, but we were always going to make a move for OF because Heredia, Abraham Almonte and Ehire Adrianza were platooning out there.

I think you see a move turning a Justin Dean-like prospect into a better backup infielder.

Again, this is just as much about strengthening the bench for September as it is finding a band-aid for Ozzie.
