The 0-7 start really has skewed how good this team is/can be.

Just get in the playoffs and see what happens.

Lord knows we’ve gone in as the favorite and beaten lots of times.

Offense is still really shitty.

I don't think we've gotten noticeably better since that 0-7 start. It's just that we played arguably the best teams in the league on the road and got boatraced accordingly.

Last week showed that we are still a ways behind LA and, overall, we're probably not a serious playoff contender at the moment as noted by our record so far against teams with winning records.

Correct.
The top tier teams are top tier and we ain’t them right now.
Mid tier teams are mid tier and we ain’t them right now.
Kangz of that bottom tier tho

I'd say we're a middle tier team, but in the middle of that middle tier.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's much to add to us offensively that can vault us into a serious contender other than Acuna. Which is a great piece to add mind you, but the question is what Acuna do we get? 2023 pissed off at the world Acuna or 2022 rehabbing Acuna? Conventional wisdom says it will be more of the latter.

But even if we get the 2023 version is that enough to patch over how bad this offense has been? Probably not.

We have a serious hole in our lineup. Way too many left on bases

I’m praying that when Acuña returns.. Michael Harris returns to the 9th slot and we can start getting a few of these damn runners left on bases in

I have heard many interviews with Michael Harris and he loves batting at the 9th slot. He needs to get comfortable again in the lineup

Very happy with his hit tonight!

Why would Acuna returning move Harris to 9th if he's not hitting 9th now?

Even when Acuna comes back, Nick Allen is still going to be in the lineup because AA seriously thought we could enter the season with Arcia still as the starting SS. As expected, that plan blew up in spectacular fashion after just two weeks and now we have a career MiLBer playing the position because he beat out AA's guy.

Getting Murphy back and adding Verdugo really helped.

Adding Acuna will help.

Gonna need guys like Albies and Harris to hit more like their Fangraphs pages.

Nick Allen is 2nd in the MLB in Out Above Average behind Pete Crow-Armstrong

If he can keep giving us .600+ OPS with that defense I will take it. It's basically Walt Weiss like with 1.5ish WAR over the course of the Season.

Has it though?

Yeah, we've won 3 in a row but we've scored in four total innings in those games not including the Manfred inning tonight.

Pitching has been fantastic... hitting has been nothing short of dreadful.

Not nearly the same.

And no disrespect to Allen, he's been fantastic with the glove. But that's not what this is about. From a purely offensive standpoint, he gives you nothing and this lineup can't afford that. Props to him for stepping up in the void that is SS, but it's a void that should've never been a thing in the first place.

And all you do is bitch about me.

You're no better.

How dare I think a team that has scored the least amount of runs in the NL East should be better offensively?

Get gone scrub.

ETA: Also, imagine being such a limp-wristed bitch that you're offended by a poster saying we're a middle-tier team and that Nick Allen stepping in for shitty Arcia is admirable but we should've had a better plan?

You're a fake as frick fan who probably jumped on the bandwagon in the middle of 2021 and think AA can do no wrong.

I want the Braves to be good, you don't care if the Braves are good, but you just want everyone to say the Braves are good

I’ve been a Braves fan since the days of Biff Pocoroba, but go on with the relentless negativity.

I still think this is just a mediocre team. The offense is still average to below average. They're awful at situational baseball and have been for almost 2 years. Obviously not playing the top teams in the NL helps right now, but when you get into the playoffs, you'll be facing great pitching every single night.

Yeah, unfortunately this team will be seeing another quick exit if they were to make the playoffs again. Lots of 2-0 games going against the best of the best pitchers.

RISP is this team's achilles heel. Acuna coming back should help some of that, but AA needs to aggressively pursue an upgrade at SS at the trade deadline. Right now Olsen and Harris are black holes in the lineup.

Is it negative if it's right?

Seriously, what have I said that's so out of pocket?

You think our offense is fine?

And it's cute that you say I'm "relentlessly" negative. Just ignore the positive stuff I say so you can create a boogeyman who is just so mean, right?
