Pretty much the entire core that won that WS weren't his guys. They were guys previous GMs drafted.
The Freddie/Olson and Wild Bill/Murphy conversations have been had ad nauseum, but those are obvious black eyes.
I don't even think he is a bad GM, but he got propped up as the "best GM in baseball" and almost this mythical, all-knowing figure and he just isn't.
Yes he gets some credit for 2021. But if 2021 was him spotting something no one else did in those acquisitions and not just him getting lucky, why hasn't he been able to do anything even remotely close to that at the trade deadline since?

I mean he's done well besides that. Lopez and Sale were great additions.
Donaldson, Ozuna were good FA signings.
Getting rid of Wild Bill and this Profar signing look to be blemishes. The Freddie thing sucks but don't put the full blame on him.

You should. Sure, what happened in late-2021 happened, but that’s because of AA’s hubris. Freddie never should have sniffed free agency.

He treated Freddie like he was some power merchant due for a cliff dive fall off instead of the consistent hitter he is.

To bad we don't have a young John Schuerholz as GM. He was so good at keeping our great talent together while adding to it. With him I believe Freddy retires a Brave & we still have native son Dansby Swanson. It's frustrating watching those two flourish & make their current teams better.
