Rorys ability the peak a 2 iron at 140+ ft is the single most impressive thing I’ve ever seen done on a golf course.

Have you seen this?

Yea, really. I’m the biggest Tiger fan ever. However, each ones ability to make a golf ball do what they want is eerily similar. Rory isn’t near the player of Tiger, I’m just speaking in terms of sheer talent.

I will concede that Tiger starts to gain a real talent advantage the closer you get to the green. Tiger, while an overrated putter, was still very good. Tiger has never been as good a driver of the ball as Rory, though.

Depends on the setup of course but it’s gotta be Rory. He’s got the best all around game and shot making potential. I think your next 3 are Koepka, DJ and Tiger. If we’re judging their potential best the Big Cat still has to be included.

I hear you. And Rory can move it both ways so I’m not saying the comparison is off.

But Tiger being comfortable moving the ball in any situation is WAY next level compared to his peers.

Tiger is ridiculous. I should have phrased it as hitting these super high long irons is the most impressive skill. "Get out of jail" shots are impressive, I just meant as in a skill and not a singular shot.

As for shot, Bubba's shot on 10 at Augusta is probably the best I've seen.

Agree completely. Rory is the closest thing we've seen to Tiger. He's unfortunately underachieved compared to his talent more than anyone I've ever seen.

Peak Tiger is, by a decent margin, the best player ever.

Tiger hit it well at the PGA, I think he finished with like 2-3 birdies fewer than DJ but he just couldn’t putt. And his injuries and physical limitations have changed his prep work, which is probly the biggest difference in him now, minus age. But if he just has a hot putter one weekend he can win. Especially in an open setting where you can ride 2 good days to a championship. But if he hits it the way he did at Harding Park anything is possible.

Rory and DJ. We see the great version of DJ more but Rory’s ceiling is the highest since Tiger. Up until a year or two ago I would have had Justin Rose in the top 2-3.

It’s not talent that separates Tiger at that age from guys like Rory. It’s work, he and his fathers forethought to prepare Tiger for his success and his obsession with perfection that made Tiger so different. He caught some breaks too but Tigers mind is the separator.

That’s tough. At their very best, JT or Rory IMO. Rory is a mental midget but his talent is off the charts. Rahm has a good argument as well. Really tough question with so many elite guys at the top right now with little separation.

In Tiger’s prime, he was not overrated at all as a putter.

He hit it well, but it was a very long way from vintage Tiger.

He had 3.1 strokes gained tee to green. Here are some other notables from that week:

JT- 6.6
Oosthuizen- 7.7
Rory 5.5
Rahm 9.5
Wolff 14.1
Morikawa 7.1
Casey 12.2
