re: As records are meant to be broken how fast do you think it’s possible for a human to run?

It can definitely get faster than 9.58.

There might not be any athletic talent that is easier to identify and develop than sprinting talent because there are so many sports and games in which great speed is useful. All elementary kids know who’s the fastest kid in the class, and there’s major status in it if it’s you.

A Usain Bolt clone born today would have to be pretty damn far off the grid to not be discovered, so I believe that at some point someone a little faster will come along.

I also don’t know that Bolt got everything out of his ability. His 9.69 might have been faster than his 9.58 if he hadn’t started showboating 20 meters before the finish line. I am sure he worked hard and all, but I don’t know that he was as insanely focused and dedicated and pushed himself to the limit the way some athletes do.

Why aren't these races run indoors for condition neutrality?
imagine the superdome with a track around the field…

Yes there’s indoor tracks but they’re, tops, 300 meters with most being 200 meters. Once you add in a turn you’re taking away top speed potential. Hence why they only run the 60m straight indoor.

it would be nice to do that but it’s not practical

let the top 100M sprinters hwve unfettered PED use and see what they can do.

I’ve always wished that they would do a “ped” Olympics. Let’s just put it out in the open and all be entertained by the freakish numbers an enhanced athlete can throw out.

It's called the Olympics.

The drugs have been ahead of the testing since the 90s.

Everyone is juiced in most all sports. Juicing equals, money.

Isn’t Vegas building a 400m indoor track?
I’m not a regular poster so not sure how to post a link but pretty sure I read it awhile back.
I doubt it actually happens.
