As a longtime boxing fan, this was one of the quickest KOs I’ve ever seen

Earlier today in Germany, Viktor Jurk vs Edwin Castillo.

EDIT: Hard to see on that replay, but folks on X are saying Castillo was trying to touch gloves and Jurk went over the top on him. Which is why his hands were down.

Yeah u can see the guy trying to tap gloves with the left and the other guy throws his right hand out like hes gonna do a quick glove tap and then comes over the top with the left

Was there beef before the fight?

Neither fighter tried to tap gloves, black guy just went out a little lazy and paid the price.

So ur opinion is he just reached out halfway with his left glove to try to give the guy a belly tap at 20% power?

I honestly can’t tell if he was trying to touch gloves. It really didn’t look like it in all honesty. Usually fighters will stick their arm out pretty prominently when they touch gloves. It looked more like he was just measuring the distance if anything.

But he isnt even close to in range when he first pokes it out there. Theres an alt angle at 2:10 in the YouTube link. The guy that got KO'd clearly thought it was a glove tap and was trying to tap.

so the
quote:

Neither fighter tried to tap gloves

is just wrong

I don’t know what the black guy was doing but I have watched fights my whole life, if he was trying to tap gloves it was more of a swinging tap/slap than a straight forward stick your glove out to tap. And he didn’t walk straight to the center of the ring to tap, looks like he takes two slow steps and then moves a little toward his right.

I don’t think the other fighter faked a glove tap either. He was clearly coming out to throw a punch.

Either way, that is a lesson learned the hard way.

from the top angle it looked like he faked it but the alternate angle it doesn't look as much like a fake tap. On the overhead it looks like he fakes 2 taps with the first one at around 5 seconds and then again and the opponent clearly read it as a signal to tap

from the announcer it seemed like the guy that won was a huge favorite anyway
