The difference was that was during basketball play and something was going on. Bynum could argue he went for a hard foul and it just got out of hand. Artests happened after the play in a completely non basketball move and threw and elbow. Elbows do damage

bruce fricking bowen used to slide his foot underneath a jump shooter so that when they landed they'd turn their ankle. Nobody calls that guy a thug POS b/c he wears that dumbass bow-tie and puts on a good Bryant Gumbel voice, but he is/was a thug POS

No way. Bynum fouled the guy with the ball, and he was ejected for fouling him unnecessarily hard. World Peace's elbow had nothing to do with the game and injured a player's brain. Way worse.

I do. Always did. On the court, complete thug, and I wish someone would have taken him out. Off the court, generous with charities, great reputation, etc.

The elbow is cruel, vile, etc. I agree...but there isn't a stink on the league like the Malice.

The rest of the regular season plus first 2 games of the playoffs is fine IMO. Anything more you're just being excessive.

ETA: 2-4 playoff games...4 seems too little, 6 seems about right IMHO.

Splitting hairs on phrasing...cool.

We'll disagree. And that's fine. But I think 6 is a good number...I mean he'll be missing the majority and possibly the entirety of the first round if he sits out six games. Anything more is just the NBA trying to be unnecessarily bad arse IMO.

Your point is valid, but Peej's opinion on what Artest deserves for a suspension is still excessive IMO. And I understand you agree with Peej's opinion in this case. But like I said, six games feels about right. I'd understand the entire first round. But that involves attaching an "indefinitely" on it, which carries a stigma that the NBA is dropping the hammer. Maybe that's the route they go. I don't know.
