Doesn't seem like a great decision for his arm.

Kind of what you have to do when you don't have Wainwright or Martinez.

Pretty much everyone facing elim is throwing their #1, Dodgers Kershaw on 3 days rest, Jays brought Price in for 50+ pitches today, etc. Pretty normal even for teams that don't have multiple starters injured.

Lynn wouldn't even be a starter right now if we had Waino or Martinez, so there's a reason for that on top of his terrible September.

Right, the point was how bad he's been for a month so he isn't getting a start in an elimination game, not that hard to understand.

Lost in all of this is the fact that Hammel is starting for the Cubs. Hate that decision. Cubs better score 6 minimum.

Other options?

You're not going to bring lester back on short rest, and it's not like hammel is going to get more than 2 turns through their lineup before it becomes a bullpen game.

Yeah, there's not much else to do here. And I'm fine with that. Hammel has been roughed up some in September, but he's also been really good. There are teams that would be thankful to have Hammel pitching in game 4...the Cardinals included.

Today is huge for Cubs. If we win, our rotation will set up perfectly for NLCS

Unless Hammel is lights out, I'm expecting a good bit of pitchers in this one.

Travis Wood only threw one pitch last night. Huge.
