Assuming you're correct, what's your point? I get the feeling that there's a James Harden for MVP point lurking just below the surface.

It is a hypothesis I have. That's why I asked it as a question.

I never said it was a fact.

You automatically shooting it down without even thinking about it is what is silly.

But that stat doesn't take into account the difference made when that player sits.
But it does theoretically because if his teammates performed better, considering the opponents then they would have a higher RPM, and likely lower his RPM when sharing the court.

Regardless it tells us that when he is on the court, he contributes +9.1 points per 100 possessions. What else matters?

Why do you assume I have a greater point?

I've seen Curry's on/off numbers referenced in articles many times, and I had a theory as to why it may be flawed.

That's it.

I thought "stats have flaws" was just the teaser to the real point. Turns out "stats have flaws" was the real point. My apologies.

Carry on.

I'm glad you started this thread. Now, hopefully it will catch on so the MVP trophy can be in LeBron's hands where it belongs.

So his on/off shows superior performance, but you question the validity of that statistic. Then when I show a statistic that shows his contribution controlling for the other 9 players on the court--which can make up for some of your issues with the on/off statistic--you question that statistic too.

The data overwhelmingly shows Curry having the most positive impact on point differential, no matter how you conceptualize it.

There are data that show that, even when controlling for the superiority of his team, that he still had the most positive impact.

You keep saying this which ignores everything about this discussion. That super talented team isn't very good when Curry isn't on the floor. Game 1 was a perfect example of this.
