Ohio St for years has benefitted from soft arse schedule. And the over inflation in general of Big Ten teams. However, since they beat Alabama and Saban, they have been a top contender year in and out.

They scheduled Texas, not their fault Texas shite the bed. They literally scheduled a semi-final team from last year. They have tons of talent. Most of the big Ten is still soft as shite. Penn St is not the program the media wants it to be.

Oregon at this point is all uniforms.

Oregon maybe after watching Penn State yesterday,
Ohio State isn't overrated.
They've only allowed 25 points this season.

If Oho State played Miami next weekend, and your life depended on picking the winner, we all know that you would pick Ohio State.

Oregon plays at Washington and at Iowa. They have USC. The west coast teams are rivals and they bring it against Oregon.

It’s not an easy November schedule. Let’s also see how the SEC shakes out.

You never had a problem when Bama had way more talent than everyone else in the SEC for 15 years. Do those titles not count because Bama had better athletes than everyone else

SEC is overrated, not a team that is dominant this year.

I always heard iron sharpens iron. Now it’s soft arse schedule that gets you there.

Ohio State had to beat two SEC teams and the best you had to offer last year.

Well, I guess we can now agree that Oregon was indeed overrated. It’s pretty crazy that OSU won’t play either Oregon or Indiana regular season.

Boy, you are a genius. It took all of two weeks for this to blow up in your face. OSU can rest easy with their ranking seeing as their toughest opponent is either Michigan or UCLA.

ETA. This was never a question about whether the SEC had a dominant team friend.

Why would losing to a top 3 team make them overrated?

Is UGA overrated for losing to Bama?

Oh wait it’s SEC so of course not

Do you understand what the word overrated means? When you are rated as the second best team in The country and lose by 10 at home while generating 40 yards of offense in the second half, you are indeed overrated. The new polls dropping them down demonstrate this. What is hard to understand about this?
Indiana was indeed underrated. They now have an accomplishment of winning on the road to show that. People get upset and pitch a fit at football talk. Overrated doesn’t mean that a team sucks. It means that they are being pumped up for a win that wasn’t quite as big an accomplishment as it seemed at the time. A good example was Oregon over Penn St. LSU got too much credit for winning at Clemson, and they were overrated due to it. Now Ole Miss is getting too much credit for beating LSU. A&M is probably a bit overrated for the win at ND. For the guy who asked, yes UGA was overrated at 5. A loss at home showed that. I still don’t know if OSU is overrated or not. The ITx win was not as large as it appeared, but they haven’t had anything close to a worthy challenger since. If you want to go by on field results, Indiana probably has a better claim to #1.
People who get offended at a legitimate questions are weak minded. They call people retardant for questioning appearances. If you believe OSU is great, more power to you. I still have questions.

In that post you said Ole Miss, A&M are overrated and that Georgia was overrated at 5. That doesn't make any sense.

You can't provide a reasonable ranking that supports those three assertions.

And that's the problem with these discussions, people suggest too many overrated teams and fail to provide an alternative that would be considered reasonable.

So in the national title game if the #1 ranked team loses to the #3 team by a FG they were overrated?

The chant overrated started as a way for a huge underdog to beat a ranked team. It wasn't for a top 3 team to say to a top 1 team

Yes, if a team that everyone assumes is better loses to a team that everyone assumes is worse, the team that lost was indeed overrated. It might be just minimally overrated, but it was definitely overrated.
Cason point, not many people gave Indiana a chance playing at Oregon. Indiana not only won that game, but did so in fairly dominating fashion. Oregon was overrated. Indiana was pretty seriously underrated. The assumptions that people made about both teams were wrong if Indiana and Ohio State were playing this weekend, I think the narrative would be pretty much the same. Who would win that game? Who knows?

7.5 points is not really indicative of that

So Alabama is overrated because they lost to FSU?

You can lose a game and not be overrated. OSU lost to Michigan last season and were certainly not overrated

Anyone that knows anything about CFB knew that game would be very evenly matched, the issue is 99% of fans THINK they know CFB when they really don't. They just look at the names on the jerseys and judge the teams based off recent historical reputation/success, they have no ability to actualize analyze the on field product and apply it to other games for prognostication

e.g. indiana beating the brakes off illinois was an indicator they were one of the best teams in the country
