I'm not surprised at all. Bye Goodell.

This doesn't prove that he knew that the tape was sent to the NFL, much less that he watched it.

As long as their is fantasy football and television, the NFL's ratings will be through the roof.

No chance in hell the 32 owners hire a commissioner for the most successfull sports league in America based on PC or PR.

That would be beyond stupid. I like how most people in here think you could put Micky Mouse as commissioner and the league would continue to succeed. Basically, the CEO of one of the most powerful entities in the world is really just an easy job. Anyone could do it.

32 owners know better. Even if you do get a Goodell resignation, it will be a slow, planned process, and not the instant gratification everyone seems to be looking for.

Please tell me you're joking. For a man who has built his reputation by knowing all what goes on and integrity - at this point, does anyone really believe he had NO idea that a tape was in his office.

There is NO way he can come out again and say "I didn't know about it". He'll get murdered.

This is only ending two ways:
1. The negative PR is enough to suspend him in some way until this all blows over
2. He resigns

Will people stop watching games if Roger isn't fired? if not, sponsors deciding to pull out will be makeing a moral decision (the right one) as opposed to a financial one. I'm of the opinion that most corporations think with their wallet and not their social conscience...with some exceptions.

Yes but companies will get positive publicity for coming out publicly against Goodell. Way more positive publicity than a 30 second ad I missed while getting another beer. When companies get pressure from organizations boycotting them for advertising with the NFL, they will pull out.

Doesnt matter. Negative PR will be relentless and increasing until he goes. An agreement will be struck by the weekend and he will resign

It shows the massive ego that Goodell has; he thought the Saints would roll over. When Vilma didn't say "oh suh, please have mercy suh, please oh please" the way Rice did (Vilmas innocence aside) and didn't grovel and kiss his feet Goodell decided to go for revenge and drag the NFL through the mud instead of dismissing the charges the way Three Separate entities did.

It proves that he did an even lazier half-assed job than could have been imagined. If he had the tape in-house the only way he didn't view it was because he didn't want to.

Hmm. Caught? I didn't see any evidence of wrongdoing. One of the least penalized teams in that time frame. Just here say that Goodell took and ran with. I guess he was just trying to protect the players. I guess if Ray Rice's girlfriend suited up on Sundays he wouldn't have covered up this whole thing and took immediate action to suspend Rice indefinitely.

He's the face of the NFL's executive administration. Obviously someone in that office watched the tape because someone was quoted in the article after just having watched it. If he didn't know then it only shows his incompetence and why he should be shown the door.

It's not what you know, it's what you can prove.

The perception is bad, but I think they'll have to pry the commissioner status out of his cold dead hands.

Unless there's more evidence coming, I don't see this as enough.

You guys may be right. He may be asked to step down behind closed doors, but he'll get a nice payoff to do so.

He was quoted as saying on CBS that "no one in the NFL office had seen the tape until yesterday"
