I just appreciate greatness of both of them. Many other great players as well...

MJ has the better career, but who really gives a frick?

The GOAT trope is something that has been contrived and bastardized by day-time sports debate shows because it's easy content that draws ratings and can never end because there is no real way of proving it one way or the other.

I mean, even in Tennis where you have three guys in the GOAT conversation playing in the same error, but you still have some people with the "wattaboutisms" with Sampras, Borg, Connors, etc.

Only over people with this hot take:

quote:

Absolutely no debate MJ

And for the record, "Absolutely no debate Lebron" falls in that category as well.

I only jump in when idiots throw the whole "if Lebron had to play in MJ's era he would fail" nonsense out there.

It was never a decent comparison. LeBron's skill set is nearly identical to Magic Johnson's

Young Lebron fans are insufferable. Most of them never saw Jordan play but have watched a few minutes of him on YouTube and believe they know all there is to know about the Bron-MJ debate.

That being said, some MJ fans don’t even watch basketball anymore but believe that Bron is a titty baby who doesn’t play aggressive basketball so therefore MJ must be better.

To answer your question, yes I am sick of it. There will never be a consensus on who is better because they’re two different players who played in different eras, so we need to just appreciate both of them for the players that they are/were.

Yeah honestly it boils down to this: they’re pretty damn close as players and clearly in their own tier historically. You can make valid arguments for either player. The only people I have a problem with is any of the extremists that say “MJ or Lebron is the GOAT and it’s not even close/debatable”.

if Lebron was so great, how come no one wants to watch him? MJ had 35.89 millions watching him beat the Jazz game 6. How many watched Lebron this year?

NBA was the golden goose. All you had to do was do nothing, wake up everyday, and collect that egg. How bad you had to be to ruin that? Lebron wanted to stroke his ego by messing with the goose. GOAT don’t do things this this by hurting everybody bringing the ship down.

MJ revolutionized player marketability and popularity on a global scale the likes we’ve not really seen from anyone else imo. He was a global icon. Fair or not, Lebrun doesn’t approach that. People tuned in to see Jordan on a level unseen for any other athlete since.

He will also never rival an undefeated CC finals record.

But also frick LeBron.

I’m an MJ guy but this is a result of good business decisions by the league, not MJ
