it's also completely absurd how fouls that have been going on non-stop the entire game (that weren't called earlier), somehow and all of a sudden get called every possession in the final two minutes of every game.
You realize that the trailing team is intentionally fouling in the last few minutes of the game, correct?
Because their season is on the line, it's much more prevalent in the NCAA tournament compared to the regular season. When duke was down double figures to Louisville in the (2013 I believe) regional final, duke started fouling around the 4 min mark.

Mens college games have media time outs. Under 16, under 12, under 8 and under 4. Generally about 2 minutes 15 seconds. Also first 30 second time out in the second half gets extended to a media.

I can remember Dan Dakich saying when he was a head basketball coach saying the football coach once asked him, "why do y'all need so many timeouts - don't you practice"?

It used to be even worse when there were 5 timeouts per team until a few years ago.
I wouldn’t mind if they reduced it down to three per team per game instead of four and got rid of the “use it or lose it” rule. (Just three throughout the whole game, no matter what.) But I think the NCAA likes the sweet spot of where it is now.

The review of every little out of bounds stoppage or clock situation in the last 2 minutes especially in the tournament is insane. As for actual timeouts they’re gonna milk every chance they have to show commercials.

I hate the timeout turnover media timeout scenario. If a team takes a timeout within 15 seconds of the next media timeout or after the next one is due it should operate as that one

This has become a plague in all sports. Review was sold years ago as being used only to overcome obvious and egregious errors. Now every close play is reviewed like it's the Zapruder film.
The only technology I need for officiating is auto balls and strikes. But instant replay review can be nuked, and it would be one of the happiest days of my life.

As a beer drinker I agree Celtic.

Yep. They get too many timeouts.
Also still don't understood why the intentional fouling by the losing team late in the game doesn't result in an actual intentional foul call where the other team gets free throws & the ball back.
