I've become bored watching the NBA in its current form. Watching teams jack up 3s is so monotonous. I'd rather the post play.

the inflection point was the 2002 FIBA World Championships

not only did we come in 6th place, but Ben Wallace (at the time in the NBA the apex defensive player) was utterly exposed and made to look like an incompetent fool

That was Argentina's "Golden Generation" coming out party, too. Upset the USA for the first time since we'd added NBA players.

Threads like this are hilarious when I remember how folks called Tim Duncan's elite post game "boring" (his 2003 postseason rampage STILL doesn't get the accolades it deserves). During THAT era, folks opined that "nobody could shoot," and wished for the wide open ABA days where everyone was out running and scoring and pushing the pace at every turn.

Some basketball fans are never happy, I swear

Yep I do, I also miss Defensive Football. The strategy and lots of nuances have been taken out of both games. The product has suffered in my mind. I realize that sentiment is not shared by many and I don't really care.

Yall must not remember the monotony of guys like Barkley clearing an entire side of the floor and spending 10-15 seconds slowly backing down a defender starting outside the three point line with no ball movement. Yea, that was fun.
