Elway had Terrel Davis, Rod Smith, and Shannon Sharp.

Show me where Donovan had that type of talent surrounding him at one time. The Jim Kelly analysis is right on, except the SBs.

Look at Elway earlier in his career and you'll see why he is far and away the better player than McNabb. It's what he did WITHOUT those guys early on that separates him.

Montana is considered the greatest, yet people forget that he had top talent around him his entire career. Same for Marino.

It would help if this offensive line was able to protect him once in awhile.

Who turned this into a McNabb vs Elway thread? The bottom line for me in this entire thread was that some idiots were saying McNabb was overrated. His numbers and accomplishments say otherwise. I asked how many active QBs have done the things that he has done throughout his career with the lack of talent surrounding him.

Don't feel sorry for him one bit. He makes millions.

He's a good QB, but callling him a hall of famer is what is making people feel he's over rated. He's done nothing to merit hall of fame consideration.

Lester, McNabb has had more talent around him his entire career than Elway did for most of his.

McNabb has had a legit WR for what, 1.5 years?

I dont feel like looking, but has McNabb ever had a pro bowl WR besides TO??

James Thrash?? Todd Pinkston?? fred mitchell??

what talent?

Jim Kelly was a better QB than McNabb, plain and simple.

He will be in the HOF. There are QBs in there whose numbers are close to his and have had similar careers. It will be tough to keep him out if he plays well for another season or two.

How many championships did marino win? One SB appearance and a losing playoff record. He threw for a gazillion yards, but at the end of the day what did he win?

I am not saying Mcnabb is better that Marino, but thinking about similar type QBs that are in the HOF with similar backgrounds.

Why do you try and turn everything into a racial issue Lester? shite, for a white guy, you sure like to play the racial card a ton.

McNabb can't handle having a top WR if you haven't noticed. He has to be the major face on the team and can't handle being 2nd fiddle. It's plagued him his entire career.

That said, he's not a hall of famer in my eyes, plain and simple. He also whines more than any QB I've ever seen.

Because he is just as good as Kelly, if not better. What else reason would it be?

shite kelly even had 2 HOF weapons at his disposal his whole career

He may end up better than Kelly, but Kelly proved he could lead a team to victory and get to the Super Bowl 4 straight times. Very different from NFC championships and 1 Super Bowl.

The one time he got a legit Top WR on his team, he fractured the entire team because he couldn't handle TO being the bigger star. Why did no big name WRs go to Philly while their offense is very pass heavy? hmm?

I think a lot of people on this board discredit McNabbs on-field abilities because they dont like his attitude or some of the things he has said.

Because Philly doesn't want to pay top dollar for receivers? Name a big time WR that they have actively and aggressively pursued on the free agent market outside of TO. They are a frugal organization and they have decided to try their hand at drafting and developing the likes of Freddie Mitchell, James Trash, Reggie Brown,Todd Pinkston and so on. They have drafted some talented players of late, but DMc is not getting any younger. Donovan has some accuracy problems from time to time, but you can't say he hasn't carried this team for entire career with a below average supporting cast.

I'd say they've had an above average cast, but just no stand out at WR outside of TO. McNabb is a very good QB. I just think he gets both too much praise and too much grief.

The one time they got him the WR everyone said he needed, he forced the team to run him off. Plain and simple.

Also, tonight he refused to pull the trigger NUMEROUS times when he had wide open receivers and then either got sacked, fumbled or threw it away.

Largely do to external factors. Dude, people love to blame TO for everything. He was responsible for his fair share, but a lot of it, if not most, was on McNabb.

you're not one to determine that, especially when TO has been a head case everywhere he has been

TO made a comment about McNabb after the SB setting off the whole thing about "not being the one who threw up"

and he was suspended for 4 games his last year there

and didnt he do all the situp shite???

he was a total distraction. McNabb just went out there and played
