One proposal that I really like has all school classified into 5 classes. 5A-1A. That is approximately 73 schools in each class. Then when it gets to playoffs it splits into select vs non select. I just hate that it does away with b and c. I'm not sure if this will be on the agenda for the special session on June 8 but I'm pretty sure it will be up in January.

Why play publics in the regular season if you don't get to play in the post season? Privates don't want to be forced to fill public schedules then get cast off into our own division for playoffs.

Why play 5A or 3A teams in the regular season then get cast off into 4A for the playoffs?

The Privates' gripe is about money. Catholic doesn't want to go to Broadmoor and have Broadmoor make thousands of dollars, then the next year, Broadmoor brings 30 fans when the game is at Catholic. The NOLA privates feel the same way. The problem is, Zachary has the same issue when playing Broadmoor.

all the Catholic League schools play each other. there are no "30 fan" teams in that district

The majority of their schedule would still be other 4A teams and be in a 4A district. They might play 1 or 2 teams a year in a different classification throughout the season, so it's not like that dominates their schedule. Most of their games would come agaisnt opponents in the same class due to district play.

Like someone said, any plan that has 1 set of rules for the regular season and then a diff set for playoffs is just stupid. Either split or don't split.

remember why this new proposal is out there in the 1st place... to try to keep the lawmakers out

if this fails... the state legislature may retake up a bill that was set aside to let the LHSAA deal with it in house

So basically, tougher enforcement against Publics who are the main culprits in recruiting, right?

Well you can only enforce against public schools for recruiting because its against the rules for public schools. Privates can recruit all they want and there's really no way to prove it, nor is it against the rules. Had Bastrop been a private school would they still have been stripped of their title?

I'd love to see 4 classifications, but the money train has left the building. 8 teams vs 18 in the finals. That's too much money to throw away. They just need to make the championships in one weekend and they won't lose money by renting the Dome twice.

f a Class C school adds a football team, they move from a non-football class, to a football class. They are not playing up from C to A.

I know of several Class B schools, that did not add football, and jumped up to play in Class 2A the following year. They did play up from B to 2A. They were given the option.

6A with 1.5 Multiplier

Keep Split with 4 class/ 3 Division model. Combined B and C.

Rural/Metro for 1-3A, 4-5A back together.

Or vote them all down and keep what we have.

BS. You can't promote your school to a prospective student based on their ability to perform for a team at that school. You can't fake addresses. If private schools were doing this, they would be caught. In a league where only 30% of the schools are private, you better believe the publics want the privates to have the same exact rules. Privates can recruit students just as much as a public school can and vice versa.

If it is the same situation I'm thinking of, I don't see how it makes any sense.

Games are scheduled. Things are set. Too late to change anything.

They don't recruit as much as people think. The kids and parents go look at school on their own. Doesn't take much recruiting.

And public schools cheat a lot, I know two families that lived in Edgard and dropped their sons off in Lutcher faked all the documents needed to play for Lutcher. Frank Wilson cheated when he was a HS coach in New Orleans.
