In last night's Timberwolves-Mavs game, Kevin Love takes a last second shot with the Wolves down by 2. Shawn Marion clearly hacks him across the arm with a ref standing right there and he doesn't call the foul.
That type of thing would never happen in the NFL or MLB!!!

They hardly ever get that foul call in the last second. Maybe if someone is going to the basket they MIGHT call a foul, but the jumpshot has no chance.

I think that's the OP's point. If it's a foul with 5 minutes left in the first quarter, it's still a foul at the end of the game.

Even more examples...

Number 1 was great. He changed his pivot foot 3 or 4 times.

You are also correct. No way Love stays in Minnesota.

The fact that there is no defense and all dunks is another reason.

What I'd like to see now is the ref suspended or fined. He was standing right there and had to see AND hear the foul. Did he think Love just shot the ball 20 feet short of the rim for no reason?
This is the third or fourth time the Wolves have been screwed over where the NBA says the refs made a bad call. The last time was when Kobe committed a foul at the end of the game and there was no call. Imagine that.

You're right. The game should have gone to OT. We had that great comeback to be denied like that. Pathetic!

That's one thing I don't like... refs hardly ever call fouls on a last second shot because they know they'll catch hell if a team wins on free throws because the ref called a foul.

They don't want to decide the outcome of the game. If they did call that foul, then people will say they hate the NBA because the "refs took over" and gave them the game with that call.

But I agree with you... if it's a foul, then it's a foul. They should call it.

Professional sports are rigged and Santa isn't real.

I don't see a problem with this.
