This doesn't make any sense.

Don't spit facts. People on this board like the mentality of Championship or you suck!

Nevermind how difficult it is to win one in a 68 team elimination tournament... How much luck is involved and styles/ matchups.

They went 35-1 and lost in the Championship to a #1 seed in Baylor who was basically ranked #2 all season behind Gonzaga. But people act like they lost the Championship to Liberty.

“Lost to a 1 seed”

That’s a super nice way to say they got blown the F out and were super lucky to be there anyway.

That is everyone’s point.

How were they lucky to be there? They won 5 games fair and square to get to that title game and ran up against a Baylor team that was better than them.

Super lucky was probably an over statement but a half court buzzer beater was fortunate.

Doesn't change the fact they got absolutely nuked by Baylor. Didn't even make it a game which is why they are easily criticized.

Good riddance to those bums

Agreed. Gonzaga made it as far as fricking Alabama for Gods sake and Alabama looked like the best team the entire season.

You want to laugh at a true laughing stock of college basketball, laugh at Kentucky.

Gonzaga has been called “Elite” and “Blue Blood” by this board constantly. Punching down to barely escape UCLA with help doesn’t warrant a ticker tape parade for an elite or blue blood level team. You guys can’t keep calling them one thing then lowering the standards to what a pretty good team does and claiming it’s validation.

I can’t believe I’m about to defend Gonzaga because I think their program is overrated also, but you’re being ridiculous.

1. “Punching down” to beat UCLA? UCLA is an actual blue blood that was really good this year.

2. Gonzaga got a high seed based off of their non conference performance. They played and beat several NCAA Tournament teams, including the #1 overall seed by double digits. The committee determines seeding largely based on one’s performance against other teams in the projected field during the season.

3. Gonzaga is an amazing model of consistency in college basketball. They’ve made 20+ tournaments in a row. They’ve evolved from a fun Cinderella to a program that expects to succeed in March and can attract elite talent like Chet Holmgren and Jalen Suggs. It’s pretty incredible.

“Incredible” is pretty generous.

They’re Xavier with slightly more tourney success playing in a far less competitive conference with zero head coach turnover. There’s a reason he hasn’t left.

Few has built a great program but the blue blood talk is ridiculous.

I’ve never heard anybody insinuate gonzaga is a blue blood.
