Alexandria rolled out the red carpet today to two LHSAA reps today in hopes of bringing back the Top 28. Hope they have a good chance now with remodeled Coliseum, several new hotels and central location. We just hosted the red river athletic conference tournament and it went off pretty smoothly.

The Top 28 should be back in Lafayette. Should've never left in the first place.

I never knew it left the Cajun Dome. That was awesome when we played there. Why was it moved?

I went to Burton Coliseum and couldn't find my car after it was over, the whole building and surroundings looked the same from all sides...

Don't know what it is psychologically that makes a NOLA to Lafayette drive bearable and NOLA to LC just too damn far...

I know NOLA has no chance bc of hosting football, but I'd like to see Xavier's new building bid. i want to see our state championships in a buzzing smaller arena rather than a half full Burton or CajunDome

The frick does psychology have to do with it? It's an hour further. Same thing that makes driving from Lake Charles to Laffayette more bearable than driving to Baton Rouge, and even worse is New Orleans. If anything, there is more of a psychological thing driving that way, because you have to deal with crappy traffic on the Basin, New Bridge, and in New Orleans.

Nothing about Laffy to Lake Charles is bad, except it's another hour of driving.

People (not saying you are) always want to make Lake Charles out to be a shithole and Lafayette to be some Cultural Mecca. I hate driving around Lafayette as much as I do Baton Rouge or New Orleans. The layout of the roads sucks, although traffic still flows better than BR or NOLA. I can maybe understand the "better restaurants" argument, but being from Lake Charles, I know there are some good ones out there.

Now, does Lake Charles make sense for a statewide tournament? Hell no. It's as far Southwest as you get to feasibly hold one. It probably should be in Lafayette or Alexandria, as it's more central for everyone.

But when people want to argue that Alexandria and/or Laffy are better cities than Lake Charles because of psychology or restaurants or "culcha", that's just crap. And I've always loved that faux attachment to the Cajun Culture in Laffy as well. That city is no different than BR with all it's transplants. Ville Platte has more cajun culture in the pinky toe of the mailman than Lafayette does.

Move it back to Laffy or Alex out of convienence to everyone involved. They have the facilities to do it.

No one wants any reason to go to Alexandria.

Many years ago, my Dad took me and my Mom's youngest brother to the Top 20 in Alexandria. Robert Parrish was playing. He looked like a giant among midgets.

Man, you just typed a wall of text defending LC when no one has even bashed it in this thread.
