What is Hack Wilson's record actually?

ETA 191....

I wonder how close Albert comes to it? Been awhile since anyone has challenged it.

forget that RBI record, he's got a very legit shot at the Triple Crown.

On the steroid thing,I really think the era of guys using and not getting caught is over. Not to say that every time someone uses they will be caught, but eventually they will be caught. Obviously none of us know all of the specifics of the Manny situation, but I'd like to cite him as an example (regardless of how or why he came to take them). Yeah, in the late 90s, those guys records should be scrutinized, but I think guys playing now should be considered innocent of steriod use, unless there is some compelling evidence to the contrary. I don't think a guy having a great, consistent career is kind of proof. And for the record, I don't really care for Pujols. I just think its time for baseball fans to move on and start putting a little bit of trust back into the sport.

That would be an amazing season. For comparison's sake, I looked up Sammy Sosa's best year-2001.

..328 BA, 146 runs, 64 HRs, 160 RBI, 116 BB, 0 SB, .737 SLG, 1.174 OPS

He was on the juice, but Good God that's still sick.

An indication of how good Pujols is and how much of a throwback hitter he is, is this interesting stat.

Of the top 100 career homerun hitters of all time, The top ten in lowest strikeout to HR ratio are as follows:

Joe DiMaggio 1.02
Yogi Berra 1.16
Ted Williams 1.36
Johnny Mize 1.46
Stan Musial 1.46
Albert Pujols 1.54
Lou Gehrig 1.60
Mel Ott 1.75
Hank Aaron 1.83
Babe Ruth 1.86

The last year any of these players played was Aaron in 1976. If Pujols keeps this up and has no steroid stink on him, he is definitely a first ballot HOF.

If he retires after the All Star Game tonight, he's first ballot, IMO.
