Anyone play in a wood bat slow pitch league? I just joined one, didn’t even know they existed...

If so, what are good bats to buy, and what do you use?

I know everyone supposedly likes the DeMarini Corndog, but have heard good things about MaxBat Maples as well.

I didn't know there were wood bat leagues either. Sounds awesome. I'd love to play in one.

I've subbed for a friend a few times when he can't make it and his team is undermanned. He plays in the lowest skill level league at this complex and I legitimately fear killing a 3rd baseman. It's been a blast, though.

Corndogs ate the only wood bats I know of. A guy on our tournament team that hits nukes owns one that he swings when we're out of home runs because he has no bat control

Bat technology has made softball really boring for me. We had a mens and coed team that played four games a week from April through October for twelve years. At some point where every male player could hit it over a fence (325 and 350 to center) at will and even the ladies could hit to the deep outfield it became just a slugfest.

You can't buy a $300 glove.

actually you can and if you played with 10 guys who could hit it iver a 350 foot fence at will you played on one of the greatest softball teams ever. Most softball fields are 300 feet. If you hit a ball 340 you've blasted one.

Sorry you're old.

But really, with the bats they produce today it doesn't take much to hit it over.

My point is that buying the top glove on the market doesn't all of a sudden make you a gold-glove defender.

im 21. Your right it doesn't take much to hit it over.. a 300 foot fence a NORMAL softball field. I'm just calling out the guy who said he played on a team full of guys who constantly hit the ball over a 350 foot ball park and girls hitting deep flyouts on a 350 foot field. Think about that girls hitting softballs over 300 foot? Gtfoh

We play in about 325 ft fields at City Park Quad in NOLA

It’s a good mix where there’s a HR every game or so.

My brother plays on a legit team and I think they smash like crazy, but I don't think it's like everytime like that guy is saying.

I played with a guy who played got the Astros back in the day and he smashed it every single time.

I don't think anybody realizes how far bat tech has progressed in the last 10-15 years.

I'm not saying every hit was a homerun, but the bats make every guy capable in a competitive league. The limit is reached, and then a couple of accidentals every single game.

im playing softball right now. I play usssa softball every weekend and I play league ball. I know how hot the bats are and I've played against teams that could absolutely mash.tons of ex college ball players and I've even seen will middlebrooks hitting softballs (former big leaguer) and he hit them put alot... on. 300 foot fields your right the home runs are always used on a regulation sized field but not on a fricking baseball field.

When I was in pharmacy school, we had a decent team and played this super competitive guys team that played all over and guys 1-10 could hit 300+ Feet , it was amazing to watch.

Who said the girls were hitting 325? I said even the girls could hit to the deep outfield.

How hard is it to imagine that a field was built that went 25 feet past an official depth?

300 sure, but that extra 25 feet is what makes it unbelievable.

In 95-96, the DiMarini Double Wall Distance came out. We played in a league with 6HR limit and were normally out before the 3rd Inning. Pucked them up a d started swinging the Easton Redline after that.
