The rulebook hasn't ever mattered in baseball for strikes and balls
Which is insane considering how many obscure rules there are in baseball that are followed to the letter. Rulings may be blown but nothing procedurally is left open to interpretation

The fact that they didn’t modify the strike zone definition (which incorporates elements like stance differences, not objective height) to align with the new definition that reviewed pitches follow is absolutely insane to me

They have to clarify and unify the rules over the offseason and figure out this dimension nonsense. It’s distracting from what should be a universal W for the game

Does anyone want to address the fact that ABS is intentionally setup incorrectly

Agreed. They should have had two planes set up, front and back of the plate.

Seems like this would be a pretty easy fix, no?

Ask the MLB why they chose to only use half of the plate and not the entire thing

The answer is clear. They want the balls and strikes to be called in alignment with how they have been called for the last century.

While technology might be "right" the rules were created without that technology. They don't want the game to be different. It's a very reasonable decision.
