quote:

In offering his thoughts on the increasingly ardent efforts by NFL players -- and prominent athletes in general -- to address societal inequities and facilitate equal opportunity for all citizens, Rodgers made it clear he is down with the cause. He also expressed solidarity with LeBron James, who was targeted by Trump in a tweet last Friday that mocked the NBA superstar's intelligence. "He knows he has the support of his contemporaries," Rodgers said of James, "in his own sport and in other sports."

quote:

As for Trump's continued verbal assaults on Rodgers' peers as unpatriotic, and insistence that the NFL adopt a rule forcing all players to stand for the anthem, the 34-year-old quarterback believes such incendiary statements should not be dignified with a response. "I think that the more that we give credence to stuff like that, the more it's gonna live on," he said. "I think if we can learn to ignore or not respond to stuff like that -- if we can -- it takes away the power of statements like that." Rodgers said the fact that James, as of Monday, hadn't responded to Trump's attack was "absolutely beautiful. At a time where he's putting on display his school, which is changing lives, there's no need. Because you're just giving attention to that (tweet); that's what they want. So just don't respond."

Aaron Rodgers isn’t capable of having a relationship with his family. I’m not gonna take what he says very seriously in this case. Dude is nuts...the kinda guy who thinks he’s being wiretapped 24-7.

Trump is doing a great job as president. Sometimes he puts his foot in his mouth but he’s doing more for our nation than any of these so-called sports “heroes”. Downvote away MSB, but it’s the truth.

That's pretty dead on. LeBron would be doing the right thing if he never responded. He comes off much better by placing the focus on his charity work and not getting embroiled in Twitter sniping.

James won't even be able to process that statement.

When the drooling idiot of a president started ranting and raving about those athletes’ opinions.

Not at all. I take his family issues to mean that he has a personality problem. For whatever reason he has closed himself off to them. Barring murder or some crazy financial situation (which if were true would have probably been exposed by now), that’s wrong.

If he’s closed off to them, he’s probably closed off to lots of other shite as well. It’s only natural for him to not embrace MAGA and cry about ‘the man’ again.

Why do athletes think their opinions on social issues and politics somehow matter?

How does being good at a sport somehow make your opinion more relevant or more important than any one else's?

When people started thinking that because they're famous it means they're smart

What makes him an expert in telling what other athletes should do?
