ESPN went 24 hours for the first time and has been on the air ever since.
and its been all downhill from there

Yeah, it really sucks to have a network devoted to sports 24/7, much better to watch test patterns and get 1 highlight on the local news
and a lot fewer games on TV. What crap!

To be honest, they were great up until a few years ago. It's really a shitty station now. They now have an agenda and it's definitely not about reporting the most relevant news at all.

aside from making a profit, which I realize is odd for a for profit business, what is this "agenda".
ETA: outside of games and college gameday, i don't watch much on ESPN, I just don't get the constant whining, or thinking everytime some on air personality says something some fanbase doesn't like they get all up in arms.

Promote 1212343 hours on pre season football, pretend like cardinals/brewers race isn't important last week.

The ESPN bashing is simply inane. HTown hit the nail on the head. ESPN provides us with so many opportunities to get our sporting fix. It may not be perfect, but it is a hell of a lot better than the alternatives. I, for one, support the fact that ESPN is giving us the chance to have sports around the clock.

The Brewers were up by like 10 games.

Ummm, NO.
It started going downhill with the Disney/ABC merger.

i cut out espn all together yesterday because its too obvious now their agenda. Last night's commentators for the yankee/red sox game was the red sox radio announcer, curt schilling and nomar. They love the red sox dicks, same with oregon and alabama. its sickening and too obvious

Oh yeah? I never see highlights on Sportscenter. EVER.
Same goes for hockey - since they lost out on the NHL contract they disappeared off of the network. They might show a couple of highlights at the end of SC of when Caps/Pens play, but never of the smaller popularity teams. I loved how the TIM THOMAS STICK SAVE in Game 5 against the Lightning was the #2 play of the day. #1 was a standard Lebron dunk.
It's all good though. Hopefully Versus is going to catch up with ESPN now that NBC is showing that they're going to challenge.

At one point they use to show more baseball during week. I believe they had Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and a Saturday double dip on ESPN. Was awesome as a kid, and sportscenter use to be a must.

LSU fans are the WORST at this.

ABC had idiot Craig James and Tater Tot as their top analysts...can't go uphill with those guys

My only beef with ESPN is some of the coverage choices they throw out. College Baseball is running down the homestretch and they are showing poker and softball.
