Good chance I'll be checked out by the 14th of Jan unless LSU is magically still in it. This schedule is absurdly stupid.

Why there is giant breaks in between the game weeks is baffling.
So ESPN can fill 2 extra weeks worth of talking heads shows about the next round of games.

So I guess the Rose will never be a national semi-final since they steadfastly want the game to remain early evening on New Year's Day

No Sugar Bowl in New Orleans for New Years. I’m sure the businesses love that.

Working around the NFL schedule.

It’s 100% this. The 17 game schedule and the Monday night wild card game have played into the CFB playoff and bowl schedule for the last few years now.

The Sugar Bowl following the 2022 season was moved to NYE because the NFL had a regular season Monday Night game scheduled on Jan 2. (Ended up being the Damar Hamlin game)

It the CFB playoff is centered around NYD and they insist on having the title game on a Monday night, these scheduling issues will continue to happen because they are boxing themselves in with these dates. Don’t get me wrong, I love the New Year’s Day format, but doing that will always put them at the mercy of the NFL.

I love this set up of dates. Give the winning teams a couple extra days to rest and heal their star players that always play banged up if playing every 7 days.

I hate the TV lineup though.

Has this board become a soy boy haven? Nothing but whining and whining. As the previous poster said, it’s great for coaches to gameplan and heal up players. Nobody cares if you lose interest or watch because clearly a lot of people are watching so boo freaking hoo. Get over it. Just because YOU think the Natty game should be Jan. 1 doesn’t mean it should be. We’ve never had a real playoff or Natty game so ther is no precedence. However it falls for TV is fine. Or move the season to the spring so it doesn’t match up directly with the NFL and have the Natty on Memorial Day.

This isn’t the only reason but this past year I watched less post season college football than ever before. LSU’s situation obviously played a part of that but I lost interest in each h game super quick. I’m hoping that the inevitable end to conference championship weekend will tighten up the schedule.
