Its rained hard non stop for over an hour. Pea hail on and off, but sustained which is strange. Just training over my house but I like it.
Chase Elliot and Taylor Gray look like contenders to me

From SPC
In this map the line was east/west at OKC. In that time it stayed in OKC and the western (left) side pivoted down by over 100 miles. It just got stuck and got me mega rain. Normally they blow thru. Finally starting to slow a bit

Is that fog or dust or smoke at the track? First lap seemed to kick up a lot of dust but should be clear by now. Must be fog from earlier big rains

Man, I hate the GWC. Always some backmarkers wreck late and cost leader a win. Chase had it until the late wreck. They said its 6th time in a row GWC leader did not win. Jones took it and I’m not discounting that. He was able to be aggressive and with only 2 laps its easy to pull off upset. 3 laps and Chase wins.
But was a good race with engaged booth. Maybe not as much passing up front but was thru field. Feel like tomorrow will be less moves as car can’t drive side by side as long as NOAP cars can.

I fell asleep I guess at the beginning of stage 3. Surprised jones won.

Decent finish. He legit held Chase off.
Chase wins without the caution though.

Chicagoland Speedway
@ChicagolndSpdwy
PARKING UPDATE: Due to the impact of excessive rainfall, Chicagoland Speedway will implement adjustments to parking in lots A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, P on Sunday. Some fans planning to park for free in areas that were grass lots will be directed to Route 66 Raceway parking. Buses will transport fans to Chicagoland Speedway entry gates. ADA and Tailgate parking are not impacted. Ticketholders are also encouraged to carpool or rideshare to the racetrack.
PRE-RACE UPDATE: All pre-race activities including the concert with Mitchell Tenpenny and driver introductions will be held between Garage 1 and Pit Road. Fans can access via crossover gates 1, 2, 3, pedestrian tunnel, and infield pre-race fan zone.

One thing about Chase he doesn’t blame others for his loss. Love was gonna push him but didn’t. And it kept Jones even headed to turns which gave Jones advantage in 3/4. Chase should have ran closer to Jones door in turns but he knows that takes air off inside car and likely causes wreck. He never once blamed anyone. Just got beat by the lines he took.
Nascar needs to stop with the GWC though. Any caution with 4 or less laps should not be restarted as the only reason to restart is to manufacture created drama. It always helps the 2nd place car who can take more risks.
Or put cars 1 and 2 bumper to tail on restart so leader has a car advantage. That won’t work either as 2nd place car would stay back and get their own push.
Maybe could make it where if leader is up by 2 or more seconds its not restarted. If less than 2 then GWC. Would make both 1 and 2 push hard at end.
Another problem with GWC is all the changes in positions 2-20. Some tracks punish you for being in a lane due to track layout. With points system to make chase it can cost drivers many spots and those add up too. Most focus on leaders but a lot of dirty driving goes on behind them to gain positions. It really alters the work put in all day because some back marker wrecked late for no reason.

Today’s race not going green until 5:19 PM CDT is asinine. If you’re going to do that, run it on Saturday night.

Sounds like Chicagoland or Chicago street race is on the table for next year?
Where do yall stand? I’m all for getting road courses back to 6, but if they can get that number without going back to Chicago, I’m ok with it. I think there’s legit momentum to bring San Diego back for the 4th.
Buncha Facebook and Reddit losers are all up in arms that Chicago street is even a consideration. I thought the layout produced great racing. But San Diego was a much more challenging and racy layout.

Let’s see what this race looks like before giving a thumbs up or down on this track.

And Connors terrible rookie season continues

I’d rather San Diego over Chicago street course. Let’s see how this race goes today. If it’s a good one, they’ll come back to Chicagoland over Chicago street course especially since today is a sellout race.

And the Hamlin show begins
Posted on 7/5/26 at 5:49 pm to sledgehammer
I’m not writing them off before the race. Just stating what nascar has already said.
Posted on 7/5/26 at 6:10 pm to MikeHoncho47
No, I agree with you fully man. That was definitely payback from Coronado.
Posted on 7/5/26 at 6:17 pm to sledgehammer
That Hamlin in car looked like playing a NASCAR video game on rookie mode. That car is so OP.
Posted on 7/5/26 at 6:22 pm to sledgehammer
Yep. This has been brewing for years between these two.

Tough break for Larson
This’ll put Preece back on the lead lap. Crazy he came from 4 laps down and it’s only the beginning of stage 2. He’ll salvage his poor start after all
