Scotty Mac with a massive crash at Turn 1. He got turned around and backed completely through the barrier. Just a foam wall / three-tire deep / cyclone fence barrier. There was no concrete barrier. Which would explain why the rear attenuator was almost completely intact. The rear end looked hardly damaged. This is a better arrangement that the typical concrete wall behind the tires.

This safety barrier arrangement at Barber is much safer for the driver, but it takes much longer to repair than if they had a concrete wall behind the tires. This is a consideration if a big crash happens during a race. I'm glad Barber chose safety.
Just one example: Gonzalo Rodriguez would still be alive if Laguna Seca had the same arrangement at the corkscrew. He was killed on impact with a three-tire deep barrier and concrete wall (in a front-end crash before IndyCar used the HANS device). Back then they didn't have the more advanced impact absorbing ("foam") barriers they have now, so I guess back then they had no choice.
