Missed it while eating lunch but sounds like a major wreck with 7 cars, injured drivers, oil on track, barriers destroyed. Been red flagged for 45m.

Race control at the Nordschleife, which is holding the 24 Hours of Nurburgring Qualifiers Race 1, has confirmed that "several injured drivers" are being attended to after a massive crash at the German circuit.
Almost an hour after the red flag was brought out, it was confirmed that "rescue operations for several injured drivers are currently in full swing.
"We will provide an update from race control as soon as further information becomes available."
The race has been suspended for now, and the broadcast has temporarily gone off air. It is unclear if and when the race may resume.
Major wreck, photos from onboard of another car out there. Trying to find something non-socials to post here.

That’s rough rough. Hope everyone is alright.

Damn, that's rough.

Damn, that sucks. Knew it had to be bad when the suspended everything and 45m later said they were still rescuing drivers.

shite. Not good.
Jesus. He was in a modern full fledged race car. Crazy.

Max posted condolences on his socials… I’m assuming they cancel tomorrows qualifying too

I don’t know. It’s the green hell for a reason. Get the barriers built back right and send them back out there is what I would think.

Whats sad is during the out/formation lap the Sky Sports announcers were discussing things and how there are no safety cars, that drivers know what the flags mean and when to slow down and the likes.
Just sad all around.
Only video i've seen if from one of the approaching cars after it looks like the first 2 go into the wall and the camera cuts in and out, so unable to tell what happened, but he goes sideways into them almost like there was something on the track and lost traction.

Have some buddies a lot closer to this type of racing than I am and they’re saying oil on the track caused him to lose it.

Race will go as scheduled. 1 minute moment of silence before.

They know the risks but I don't imagine it makes things any easier.
Imagine your wife being already worked up that you decided to race this weekend instead of being off. Then someone at the race is killed. No matter how much you think you know it has to be a topic of conversation.

Crazy. I could see if it was the actual 24hr race, but its a 4hr quali session. You'd think they could come up with an alternative to give the drivers a couple of days away.

Yeah, my mind has been thinking “what ifs” this afternoon. Imagine if it had been Max. Because of this war. Because these regs suck. And of course it’d all be a freak accident but shite?

Shades of Kubica.
Ever wonder why those "no racing" clauses are in F1 contracts this is why. Could tank an entire team's season with an injury or worse.

Sad clip going around social media of him driving down pit row high fiving people right before the crash.
