Image of Cody Ware's car after the wreck. Don't know if I've seen a Next Gen car crushed in like that.

Ware is very lucky that the tire barrier was there and also that those walls at Chicago move a lot when hit as they are temporary. I think if that type of hit happened at a permanent race course, he may have been hurt a lot worse.

NASCAR told RWR that is the hardest hit ever recorded in this current gen of car.

So Logano gets into Ross, almost turns him and takes the position. Then Ross gets his retaliation and Logano is pissed. Am I getting this right?

Logano can dish it out but cries when it comes back to him.

Pretty much.

No not at all. The 2 caused the whole damn incident. 4 cars piled onto Joey before he hit the 1. Chastain just threw another temper tantrum.

Wow, looks like many of the fans Nascar pushed away never came back. And where are all these new fans they chased?

Meanwhile F1 is doing better than ever. Nascar messed up taking all this money from many different TV networks and bouncing coverage all over the place.

ESPN says its British Grand Prix viewership set another record -- 1.5 million viewers, up 19 percent from last year. Ten of 11 F1 races have been up this year and seven have set event viewership records in the U.S., ESPN says.

Good. As much as I rail on Nascar this lawsuit is BS.

Well, they brought this on themselves. No tears from me if he or Reddick misses any races. Bubba has a rich sponsor in McD’s and they are risking that loss of income if they miss a race or two (depending how contract is written - some teams have to race to get paid that week by sponsor/s). This is a stupid challenge by 23x. When they lose so does Hamlin so thats cool

I miss turning on Speed Channel late at night and getting to watch stuff like the Aussie V8 Super Car series or DTM Racing. As much as I liked NASCAR, Speed f'ed up when it just became NASCAR mouth piece outlet and pushed most of other racing off the channel. Of course that came after FOX bought it after they got their broadcast deal with NASCAR. Eventually they killed SPEED all together and turned it into FS1.

On SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Cody Ware was interviewed and discussed the hit at Chicago.

The hit was so hard it cracked his Hans device and separated the foam in the helmet.

I truly do not understand how any of us could take this position. Every single one of us regulars in this thread rail on how shitty NASCAR has become in their seemingly intentional efforts to kill our beloved sport.

They are able to do what they've done due to their monopolistic unchecked power they yeild over their participants. Two teams decided to use what tools they had to fight back so it's "frick 'em, they're getting what they deserve."

This postition makes absolutely zero sense for anyone that cares about the direction of the sport and the product that's being put on the track improving.

Because I’m right on this. Charters are part if what makes teams invest in the sport. Its no different than any other sport. Imagine if NFL or NBA didn’t a similar system. No city would invest in a stadium if they were not guaranteed part of the league.

In fact Nascar goes one step further and allows any team to race without a charter but you to qualify with no guarantee. Can’t do that on other sports. The CBA protects the teams and shares the revenue. Charters share the revenue with members who sign up for it.

These teams are still able to attempt to race. And based on their points would still race if qualifying is rained out. Nascar is simply making sure Chartered teams get the most money just like NFL teams who are limited to 32 get their shares.

Nascar is doing a great job destroying the sport separately but charters actually help the teams and sport. It guarantee's any team who buys one part of the profits and TV revenue.

If it wasn’t legal to have them then every sport would have issues as well. 23x is trying to destroy that which could bleed over to other sports too. Teams have invested much money into technology and the charter is a way to make sure their car gets in the show and gets the higher revenue share.

What 23x wants is no charters and thus no team would be guaranteed to race (meaning less car ads as advertisers would have no guarantee their sponsored car races) and no guarantee of purse (meaning less money to run teams).

So far the rulings have agreed with what I’m saying. You can still attempt to race no one is locked out from the attempt because Nascar sold less charters than they have slots to race. Its not a monopoly. If you don’t like the terms then you don’t have to sign on and can still attempt to race. You run the risk of missing race solely based on competition of other non chartered teams. But you have the opportunity.

It would be bad for the sport if 23x wins. And possibly bad for other sports too.

This part is patently false. Chartered teams are not allowed to even attempt to compete in other series without NASCAR's permission.

And the sport was the second most popular and attended sport on the planet without charters or "guaranteed" starting spots.

NASCAR us using the charter format to strong arm teams into taking and doing whatever NASCAR does/says without having a voice in challenging it.

Yup, could always go to Speed when wanting to get racing fix. Those old V8 Supercar racers were great. They could run an inch or two apart for laps and never hit each other. Was always amazed.

NASCAR waited almost a full minute to throw a caution after this.
