And why do we need push-to-pass?

David Land with another Banger
Palou is saying that the hybrid implementation actually makes passing from 3rd on back even easier, which should make the show even better (hard to do).
This year marks my 30 year anniversary of attending every 500 (the last "real 500" in 1995 was my first , I was in first grade) except for 2010 and 2020 obviosuly.

90% chance of rain Saturday for support, practice and qualifying at Children's of Alabama. Sunday is looking nice with highs in the low 70's.

Heading over Sunday. Anyone with recommendations for race viewing? We purchased general admission tickets.

I would get there early- the morning goes by fast.
The best viewing spot is the backstretch amongst the trees but it fills in fast....they are packed in on the grass and the trees by the time Indycar warmups conclude. There are tens of thousands of people in this zone.
If you don't mind not having shade, the grassy bowl in the turns 2-3 carousel is really nice as well.
I usually alternate between these 2 spots depending on the year. Last year I was in the backstretch trees, the year before I was in the turn 2-3 complex, this year I bet I go back to turns 2-3.
I'd also recommend downloading the Indycar app which provides free onboard cameras, In car Radios and Timing and Scoring.
With how the race progresses with split fuel/tire strategies, it is very helpful to help keep track of the leaders

Thank you SkiUtah420. This will be my 1st IndyCar Race. Definitely looking forward to it. Jumping in the car this morning to head that way.

Great info
What time would you recommend getting there? I’m going with my dad and 4 year old. I’m sure we’ll do some of the kid/fan zone stuff since we’re taking my son.
ETA: we’re parking at Shops of Grand River. Hoping the shuttle service is an easy experience.

Id make sure to be at the shops at Grand River around 9 -9:30 am . The shuttle situation is very easy.
Barber/ the Grand Prix Association is top notch with everything they do.
That should drop you into the facility right before Indycar warmups
This will give you time to get your seating arrangements situated , check out the fan midway, and even take the tram around the track (it’s cool to watch the IndyNXT race and warmups from a different vantage point than your race seats )

Cool to see Veekay start near the front. Hopefully Scotty Mac and Herta can take the fight to Señor Perfecto.

Another screw up by the 26 and/or his pit crew . . . kiss the podium goodbye.
