Indy really needs a Mexican/South American couple of races for early spring. A lot of their tracks are in cold weather areas that cause the early season to have long breaks.

There are 'llegedly talks between Indycar and some Mexicano promoters about scheduling a race south o' the border.

Brazil has a perfectly good F1 track. Why a street race?

So does Mexico.

I believe the FIA has a rule that Indycar cannot race on the same track as F1 in foreign countries..Its why CART always ran ovals in Japan , Brazil and Europe and street courses in Australia

CART ran at Silverstone back in the day

That was before CART and under USAC sanctioning. I believe the rule was influenced by Bernie Ecclestone in the 90s when Indycar was a legit threat to F1’s global dominance

Was it? I thought that was during the CART days.
F1 raced at Indy, Watkins Glen, and other American venues.

Unsurprisingly, the TV ratings for the Thermal Club race were down. What is surprising is just how far down the fell - to approximately 50% of the St. Petersburg viewers.
Clearly, Indycar was not going to draw a massive audience while March Madness was in full swing. However, I blame part of this decline on the three week break between the races (and we're subject to another three week break right now!). Indycar had momentum after St. Petersburg. Now, it's gone.

Plus going directly against NASCAR. Pretty dumb programming by Fox.

partly the break , but the bigger problem is that outside of the 500 indycar is not a TV destination.
Its something capable of getting a solid TV rating when it doesn't have a ton of competition
Indycar has around 1M diehards in the US... the biggest challenge the series has faced for the past 25 years is adding to that 1M or so odd fans on a regular basis

They really need to find a way back on to Michigan and Pocono for a triple crown of 500 milers. I know it's next to impossible with safety issues.
Posted on 3/27/25 at 10:03 pm to XenScott
Peter Revson said Pocono was the most interesting of the triple crown courses

Apparently all the big manufactures disagree.
Can you show me on the doll, where IMSA touched you?

In 2-3 years they are going to come to their senses and ask themselves why they are spending $30M+ per year for a series with miniscule tv ratings and horrid in person attendance outside of 3 events
Also Porsche is pulling their factory GTP program next year in IMSA, so it’s already happening

This is Porsche's typical cyclical racing strategy, hit it hard and bail after two years of dominance. Porsche then sell cars to the privateers (they started last year).
