Dale has said that he loves gimmicks and long as it’s a good gimmick.

Jr may have his own ideas about who to name those trophies after. Run with it.

Will Brown (V8 Supercars point leader) will run Sonoma for RCR in the 33.

That’s now 4 guys from that series that will have run Cup races in a year. Not sure about yall but I’m enjoying these guys coming run the Cup series.

Shane Van Gisbergen
Brodie Kostecki
Cam Waters
Now Will Brown

Back in the day, it wasn't uncommon for guys in other series to run NASCAR. Gurney, Parnelli Jones, Mario, AJ Foyt.
Johnny Rutherford once won a Daytona qualifier, and Innes Ireland, former Lotus F1 driver, drove in a NASCAR event

Oval trophy- Richard Petty

Agreed. Although Pearson could make a case.

quote:

Short track trophy- Curtis Turner

I would give this to DW. He was an absolute monster on short tracks. Rusty comes in 2nd.

Superspeedway trophy- David Pearson

This should be renamed the Earnhardt family trophy. They are the greatest superspeedway drivers ever. Period. They have no peers. They have 16 victories between the two of them at Dega(10 for Senior, 6 for Junior) and 7 between them in points races at Daytona. 3 for Senior(2 Pepsi 400's and the '98 500) and 4 for Junior('01 & 15 Pepsi 400 & the 500 in '04 and '14) and 40 + victories at Daytona across all races in total. There will never be better or more skilled superspeedway drivers than those two. Their ability to manipulate the draft and play chess while the rest of the field played checkers sets them in a tier all by themselves.

Yeah, in this case. They made those two tracks their personal playgrounds for so long and were so much better than everyone else that you just can't leave one of.them out.

I always liked watching Ron Fellows and Boris Said.

Thought it was cool when Red Bull brought their DTM driver Mattias Ekstrom over too.

I can say this though. These ringers are in better equipment than a decade ago.

NASCAR just can’t let go of having championship weekend at Phoenix. I think almost everyone was hoping to see another track host championship weekend in 2025.

There are about 7 races that could end the season.

Homestead
Phoenix
Auto Club short track
Kansas
North Wilkesboro
Rockingham
Las Vegas

Take the all-star race somewhere else. Put these 7 in the playoffs on a rotation.

Homestead wasn’t bad at all in the first place too. Plus it created the setting of starting off in the daylight and it and ending during sunset. Now it just seems bland

I also am of the opinion that only a few tracks deserve more than 1 date.

Daytona
Talladega
Atlanta
Bristol
Martinsville
Charlotte

Every other track needs 1 date. That's 1/3 of the races on that list.

I'd like to see 40 races on the schedule, but 6 weekends as doubleheader weekends. I doubt that happens any time soon, but no reason Richmond, Kansas, Las Vegas should get 2 dates.

The Busch Series ran at Heartland Park in Topeka a couple of times. Why can't the Cup series? Same with Road America.

Will have to see how this weekend plays out. Last year was awesome seeing the cars back out there, but the racing was follow the leader single groove parade laps. It's fun and nostalgic for an exhibition race, but will have to see a lot more from the on track product before it should be considered a points race, much less the finale.

That place closed down.

Ideally in the current setup, 6 road races should be what we use.

Sonoma, Watkins Glen, COTA, and a Street race should always be on the schedule.

You have Mexico City and Montreal that can rotate dates.

Portland, Virginia, Road America can rotate.

Not sure what going overseas will look like. I expect that to happen in next 5 years.

I think it'll be fine in time.
