quote:their depth defensively was spectacular. They are explosive offensively. And as dumb as it sounds after getting blasted, you could see a path to getting some stops. Enough to beat em if you could muster an offense, prob not. But the offense is not other worldly like the defense I saw play. Fresh bodies, great scheme, great tackling, pursuit. I watched a good bit of Karr film. I didn’t see that effort all year except for the Rummel game, I was hoping we didn’t see that team. We seem to have got their attention!!
this point, Karr is a well oiled machine that will be tough to beat for the foreseeable future Incredible athletes all over the field coupled with a coaching staff

The quarterback threw 4 picks with guys running wide open and they still scored 53 while kneeling at the 1 foot line. Their offense is pretty good bro.

I think you just proved his point.
No doubt they are a great team. They have more athletes (size, speed, etc...) overall than ASH. Not a surprise on that part, The population difference between New Orleans and Alexandria is quite large.

All a coach can do is get you open, he can’t make the throw and catch. If he gets the guys open, it’s not the offense that’s the issue. I’m sorry if I misinterpreted what he was saying when he said the offense isn’t other worldly. I’m used to fans blaming scheme for everything.

With more schools to share those athletes

They look like a 2010’s SEC version of an SEC team. They’re unbelievable
Karr will continue to be good but they lose a ton this year and while I’ve got a lot of respect for their coaches and what they’ve accomplished, there best coaching attribute is mentorship and pride.. they win with athletes not Xs and Os

New Orleans - 1,271,000
Alexandria - 45,200
I would expect there are many more schools in New Orleans but that difference in population can't be made up.
Big reason there hasn't been a state champion in football from central Louisiana since 1960 (Pineville Rebels) although ASH was a disputed call on a two point conversion from winning it all in 2020 against Acadiana.
Hats off to them, they are a great team.

Not blaming the scheme at all.

at best Karr draws from 200k of those people

ain’t no way Alexandria is only as big as my parish. Y’all draw from all of a 126k parish with no one else even close to relevant this time of year
There might a handful coming from the parish, if that but you're on some serious drugs if you think Karr is only pulling from 200,000. Both schools are open enrollment, I'm pretty sure they get plenty of athletes wanting to go there.

Orleans population is less than 400k and half of that wouldn’t consider Karr

Ruston has been 3 years in a row and won last year and is probably half the size of even Alexandria. West Monroe which may even be smaller than Ruston was a powerhouse for 20 years and beat schools from much bigger cities

quote:Agree. I wasn't drinking the Ruston/W. Monroe koolade. Central had a stout defense and got weapon back from injury for their title run.
Yes, after I saw Central beat Cecilia 27 - 0, I told people that Central would make it to the Dome.
quote:Central has double the student body that Cecilia does. Diesel went down on defense during Central's first offensive series and we didn't have a gameplan ready on offense for that scenario. I'd bet anything that with a healthy Solari we would have put up more points than Ruston did on them.
I know Diesel was hurt in the 1st quarter of that game, but they still wouldn't have won with him.
Credit to coach Skains to even put them on our schedule. They weren't scared to fight with some power teams above our class.
Our only losses this year were to a Div I select 2nd round team who lost by a point in the playoffs, a defending state champion who went down in the quarters and a Div 1 non select school who won a title on Saturday. If we had a healthy Solari and don't completely abandon the run, I think at least a couple of those games may have had different outcomes.
But still, even with the losses, I'm proud of this team regardless. Only team in LA football history to go on the road the entire playoff run and bring home a ship.
quote:Not many know but Diesel got hurt but toughed it out. Props to this kid for bouncing back with 2 title games after blowing a knee out as a sophomore. He has the heart of a warrior and ball skills off the chart.
Dogg, what was wrong with the Cecilia offense in the 2nd half? It looked like they went away from the run and tried to pass too much to me.

Major props to Cecilia 3A ; (half the size) for traveling & taking on 5A Central

quote:Yes we had a couple of nice sized OL's in Christian Menard and Ryker Airhart. Definitely undersized on the D Line and Skains worked around it with kids that had heart and an unorthodox scheme.
You must be talking about Menard the left tackle. They might have one other "big" guy, but the rest of the team is about 150 pounds at best. That's why they do crazy things on the DL.
Not to mention that a full third of their offensive starters play both ways. They dont quit and coach decided to get some reserves snaps for the entire 4th quarter in every loss except Opelousas. Played backups almost the entire 2nd half when Central knocked Solari out.

quote:Accurate assessment.
Franklinton went to a dime look. Only linebackers and DBs on the field. It was the perfect adjustment Cecilia just had too many horses in the stable.
quote:Agreed. They were in position to win had our kids given up the fight. Those were not really unforced turnovers and our defense despite lack of size ain't scared to bring the wood.
Yep perfect defensive adjustments by Salt and staff. If Franklinton wouldn’t have made a few key offensive mistakes in Q4 they win.
I don't think that Franklinton or any of the other teams we played in the playoffs had a more physical opponent, despite the knock that we had a soft D.
It was bend but don't break and if we stop you a few times can your offense keep up with ours? Once we got healthy nobody could.

Their offense is pretty good bro.
That’s why I used the term not other worldly.
If ASH could’ve produced any field position for the D the Karr offense was not something you looked at and thought you couldn’t stop.
Put the ball in plus territory all day, put D back on the field with three and outs, there would’ve been a chance for a few more stops.
