I wonder how much plotting goes on behind the scenes by players and coaches trying to squeeze every point they can get out of these tourneys. I’m guessing the entry lists are hidden from the players until the deadline.
Djokovic and Rublev are in Banja Luka but after that it’s kind of a mess. With the right draw an average/decent player can maybe make the semis. On the other hand, Barcelona is a 500 but realistically that same player isn’t likely to win more than a match or two there.
Also I wonder how much of an appearance fee Novak is getting to play in Bosnia.

I think it's basically Novak's home tournament, he almost has to play it. I am watching now and his foundation is a sponsor.
There are a lot of guys I don't know in that Barcelona draw.
It looks like Madrid and Rome are two week tournaments. I don't remember that. They will probably do the thing where the first few days are qualies and then it's basically a ten day tournament.

Yeah, Banja Luka (Bosnia) is a Challenger that got a temporary bump to 250 because the courts at Belgrade (Serbia) are under renovations to meet the standards for a 500 hundred. I guess Novak wants to make his home tournament a competitor with Nadal's in Barcelona.

Anything is better than that Monte Carlo 1-week absurdity. They were lucky it barely rained too.

Fed’s gonna bring a Masters to Switzerland now

Speaking of rain. It's getting annoying. Delays in Banja Luka, Munich, Brazil (Challenger), and Mexico (Challenger).

Didn’t realize when Sock won that Masters that got him into the top 10 that it was basically a Challenger-level path that he faced.

Really good crop of Next Gen players. Should be a solid tournament at the end of the year.
Alcaraz and Rune should make the ATP Finals. Rune was 1st alternate last year in Turin. If Rune doesn't make the ATP Finals, then he will be a heavy favorite in the Next Gen tournament.
Shelton - needs no introduction
Musetti - beat Djokovic in Monte Carlo last week, solid player if he can get out of his own head. Won 1 ATP 250 and 1 500 tournament last year (Hamburg - beat Alcaraz in the Final).
Van Assche - clay rat/backboard (took a set from Djokovic today). Menace on clay
Fils - basher with offensive weapons, good on hardcourt
Michelsen - American teen, went pro instead of going to college (was committed to Georgia). 9-3 Challenger record so far in 2023.
Giovanni Mpteshi Perricard - 6'7" 220lb raw talent. Lots of pop in his racket, should be dangerous with more experience.
Those are the only players on this list that I've had a chance to really watch so far this year. Been betting a lot on Challenger and Qualifying matches backing these kids.

Good info. I had no idea Musetti was young, I thought he was like 32.

Seeing Rafa in the +400ish range now for RG.
Speaking of… looks like I’m going this year. Wanted to do Wimbledon but the ticket process sucks. I need to find that old thread with the info from the baws who attended. Bunk you went once too right?

I went in '02. I think we got tickets from Championship Tennis Tours. Their scam was that they buy an allotment from the Scottish Lawn Tennis Association or something. I have no idea about general public availability. I know for RG, you do have a chance to get a public allotment if you can stay up all night when they release them.
I'm not sure of the queue situation these days. But, just to see how it works, I did stay in line all night later that week. I would have gotten in for grounds passes, but decided it wasn't worth it because I already saw matches and nearly froze to death sleeping outside all night.

Yeah frick all that, and the $1K debentures.
I’m seeing Chatrier and Lenglen seats in the $500 range and that should give me outer court access too. Grounds passes look way more expensive than IW, but it depends on the day I guess.

Sounds like you need to bribe lsupride87 for his doubles hookup.
Wonder if Rafa is done for real. Saw an article today saying that he's almost certainly not going to be healthy enough to play the French.

Eta: Jiri Lehecka +1400 ($5 to win $70) to win Banja Luka is my favorite future bet this week. I think he can beat current Djokovic on clay and Rublev will probably run out of steam after winning Monte Carlo.
Also parlayed that with Tiafoe +4000 (Barcelona) and added on a DK boost for a +76750 parlay, lol. $2 to pay $1537.
Other not-BS bets for Barcelona I have are
$2 Jarry +6600
$2.5 Tiafoe +4000 (Top half lotto)
$4 Musetti +2500
$5 Tsitsipas +800 (very good value here, should be a heavy favorite in every match except maybe Alcatraz or Sinner)
Feeling cocky after cashing a Rublev +3300 last week. (Not a genius, just picked him because of the weak quarter of his draw in Monte Carlo).
Hooray for lotto futures.
Missed this somehow (bottom of page I guess)
Didn't think Kec would be +200ish vs. Lehecka if they played so your future looks better than mine.
Nice Musetti price too. Personally I want nothing to do with anyone not named Alcaraz in a clay tourney going forward.

Probably a good call.

Djoker loses to Lajovic. Sinner pulled out of Barcelona before his match. I wondered what was going on as he and Rafa were removed from Draftkings RG odds for a little while. They were probably assessing the injury situation. Apparently, Sinner was really tired in his last match and grabbing his hammy. Hope he's OK. If Rafa can get a few matches in at Rome and some practice matches the week before RG, that may not be the world's worst prep instead of grinding and risking injury in Barcelona and Madrid.

Normally I’d agree but it’s starting to sound like he won’t even be 100% by RG. Hope he plays at least.
