I sort of like betting qualies. Tennys probably has some money in the bank, so not as big of an issue -- but the for the most part, if I am betting outside of a major, I'd rather have my money on two guys really fighting for their livelihood. I could see the allure of match-fixing at that level is these guys are not making much money.

I thought he retired.

The allure has to be massive in the lower tours. Of course any significant action on one side is going to trigger red flags and probably result in an investigation, but maybe if I don't think it's likely I'll ever make it very far anyway, I don't really care

Is Ron packing mad heat?

I like Ron on covid, and I think his heart is in the right place on the CRT stuff, but he's not going about it in a particularly nuanced manner, and it will end up biting him.

Don't know if you guys have any books with quarter betting but Giorgi is 50/1 at BetOnline to win the 3rd quarter. I usually try to avoid "on fire" players, but that price is a joke.

Felix/Shapo vs. Rune/Shelton tomorrow. Imagine how packed that court will be. I might head out there tomorrow.

I think that one is Friday, at least based on Flashscore's list. Should be fun seeing that level of singles players playing doubles.

Google says tomorrow, but I would probably trust Flashscore more. Friday would actually be better for me.

Check this out. I'm usually the last person to use H2H for betting but damn. And there are quite a few wins on faster hard courts too. Only 1 clay too, and the loss was a grass retirement lol.

Combine that with the fact that Thiem won IW in 2019 and Mannarino is terrible there and and I have to play it despite his current form.

Love betting against Mannarino, but I don't think there is any way I could back Theim in his current form.

Seems like he's working hard to get back to the top but it's just not working.

Also from a few days ago.

"I’m constantly thinking of a life beyond tennis. I think that tennis was, for a long time, the only part of my life, which is good in one way but if you’re getting older it’s not good anymore, you need a life beyond tennis, you need other thoughts in your head, other things to do and the injury time out and tough time to come back helped me in those terms and I’m very happy about it," Thiem said on the ATP Tennis Radio Podcast.

Thing is, I'm not sure he even has to do much to win. He can slice everything back on the backhand side and just crush forehands. Not like he'll miss much with all that topspin. Mannarino has no serve and he won't get that velocity boost on his groundstrokes that you normally get at IW because it's cooler this year.

But yeah the question is how much he wants it. It's starting to sound like he might be done mentally.

Can't ever be sure but Alcaraz looks 100% on the practice court. That +600 outright is enticing. I'm already on Shitpants +1100.

They actually did put it tomorrow. Nice little doubles schedule on Court 4 tomorrow night. Might have to get some adult beverages if I go.

Playing +700 at a few places

ETA: Sock +150 tonight vs. Barrere. Slow conditions at night should help him, and the home crowd never hurts. He made the semis here once and lost to Federer.

Fabio races out to a 2-0 start. Have to wonder if Shelton can hang with decent players on a court that kills your serve.

ETA2: He can

Fognini should retire.

This is to win the tournament? Fanduel isn't showing odds to win the tournament. Weird.

Yeah. The books take it down when matches are being played.

This is so hard to watch. Mannarino has no shots that could trouble anyone on these courts and Thiem just decides to try and end points from 5 feet behind the baseline. And it's not like he doesn't have the fitness to play long points. It's just impatience and boredom I guess.

You can hear the lack of tension in Mannarino's strings when he hits an overhead. It sounds like more like a swish in basketball instead of a normal pop.

Thiem isn't really that far off. All the highlight reel winners are still there. He'll be back eventually if he wants it bad enough.
