Alcaraz is the worst thing to happen to tennis in awhile. The last thing the sport needs is another grunting dirty clay courter like the buttpicker

I don't see him as a boring grinder. I think he is an explosive, exciting player. I would say I have concerns he may be a china doll, but he put in a warrior effort at the U.S. Open.

Was looking at Jaziri 20/1 vs. Fokina… then I checked his history. These are his last 9 matches. He hasn’t played since November and the guy he beat (in 3 sets) is ranked 890.

Fokina -11.5 games is +3800 on FD lol

As of now Alcaraz and Norrie are still on the schedule for tomorrow in Acapulco. I don’t see any books offering odds for outright winner. Wise move.

Finally some odds for Acapulco. Apparently Alcaraz has confirmed that he's making the trip and he'll decide there if he'll play or not. I just don't see how it makes sense to play, plus he could always make the injury worse mid-tourney.

So I feel like it's a great chance to take someone else since the seeds can't be moved around at this point and a LL would take his place. The obvious beneficiaries are the top guys (Fritz, Rune, etc) but I'm gonna play Paul at +1100 at FD.

Fritz has Isner in R1 and maybe Shapo next. Not ideal. With an Alcaraz withdrawal, Paul's quarter would be 7 unseeded guys, with maybe Nakashima being the toughest opponent. Nakashima wouldn't be terrible at 30/1 either.

The third set today was one of the craziest things I have ever seen. He was serve and volleying for a bit, doing sneak attack returns, hitting droppers every fourth shot, did an underhand serve, and was absolutely hitting slapshot groundies

Ben Shelton with a TREMENDOUS collapse in the 3rd Set.

He's just not mentally ready to be consistent for the ATP Bright Lights.

Yikes he was flying through service games up to that point too.

Ruud lost the 2nd set to Guido Andreozzi (who?). Not sure how much it matters but still playing at 8 AM Norway time sure can’t be a positive for him.

Cressy with a little 27 ace, 25 DF action in the loss to Felix.

Kinda surprised he doesn’t have more fans considering how many people supposedly long for serve/volley tennis. He takes the two-first-serves idea to the extreme. And the one thing I like is that he uses different rackets for serve and return. If you think about it, he never really has to hit a groundstroke when serving unless he gets lobbed.

Maybe a deep Wimbledon run would increase his popularity.

ETA: Another quirky thing is that he rarely plays doubles. which is odd for a S&V player. No idea why.

That's wild with the aces/DFs and different racquets. Nice to see some kamikaze tennis out there.

I see the king is back in action today.

He ruins outright betting for me since I hate to lay the juice on him and don’t want anyone else when he’s playing.

Took some Fabio 50/1 in Santiago.

It's fitness. Also a healthy Rune is no slouch. Only player to beat Djokovic in ATP play since last year's French Open.

In my amateur opinion. Shelton needs better fitness and to figure out his backhand. Rune's strategy was mostly to pound Shelton's backhand and force him to do something with it.

That said Shelton can probably take a set off any player in the world if that 1st serve is working. I don't think I'd want to be on the receiving end of one of those 140+ mph body serves.

Yep. Every match is a coin toss. From a betting perspective take him at plus money, lay off/fade any time he's a favorite. Also usually good to take the over for any match line at 22.5 or below.

Also from a betting perspective, it's funny how often the line moves the wrong way. JJ Wolf ML was -150 yesterday morning. By match time he was -250... And lost in straight sets.

Joker and Rafa out of IW. Possibly Alcaraz now. Saw a few others like Korda, Goffin, Cilic out too. Was kinda looking forward to going but will probably pass now.

Honestly shouldn't have needed an injury to pull out of Acapulco. Still has the exhibition ($$$) in Vegas and then Indian Wells.
