Once again a bridesmaid, never the bride.

Did I use that phrase right?

Penske committed early and totally to the three-stopper, and it worked.

Yeah Grosjean drove great. He lost on strategy, not from any lack of performance.

Grosjean believes McLaughlin got lucky with the yellow timing (by comparing to the other three-stoppers who ended up further back), but I think the other three-stoppers (e.g., Newgarden) got unlucky with the yellow timing. I still feel like the three-stop strategy should be the better one under ideal conditions.

I think O'Ward agrees that he should have done three stops?

Great race!

Great race! Much better than F1 racing wise. Love all the post game interviews too! One in one and get real honest answers.

Grosjean is so close. He lost on team strategy last week. He lost on yellow timing today. But he raced his arse off.

Maybe Andretti can serve up an Indy win for him. Would make up for being so close all 4 races.

McLaughlin was my preseason pick to win the championship, but I was rooting for Grosjean to hold him off.

There was some, good, hard, clean racing today.

I went to Barber today and man what a blast that was! First INDYCAR event for me since the 2010 Indianapolis 500 and I’ve got a strong desire to continue following the sport.

Thoroughly enjoyed Grosjean’s driving today, but having trouble deciding who to pull for moving forward.

I know all the old heads and don’t want to put my focus on a Scott Dixon or Will Power who may not be in the sport in 5 years.

Thats the thing, Indycar has some really likeable drivers up and down the pit lane. And pulling drivers from all over the world from different type racing. And the series found a great balance in the car. The PTP was a great idea too. But driver wise, some really cool cats right now.

One thing I like is not too much is televised leading up to race. No qualifying on TV even. In a weird way I’m liking that. Its not overkill. And they stay after to do interviews with just about any driver who wants to.

And I like this track too. Great venue and suits Indycars perfectly. I think the series is slowly building momentum.

Points after Barber:
1) Ericsson
2) O'Ward (-3)
3) Palou (-9)
4) McLaughlin (-11)
5) Grosjean (-15)

Next up is the GMR Grand Prix IMS on May 13th.

Another thing I love that Indycar does:

IndyCar race control will pause throwing a yellow if a pit sequence is on-going and the driver is not in danger or needs medical attention, i.e. crash. Hence the completion of green flag pits before caution came out.

I’ll be tuning in for the Indy road course on the 13th and the 500 at the end of the month for sure. Going to be reading up to find a driver or team as well.

Expect to see me in this thread moving forward!

That compares to @USA_Network's 233,000 for the first episode of NASCAR's 'Race For The Championship' last year.

That's still shite and it should be noted the F1 race was on at 6AM Sunday.
