Lungaard running blacks and moving up. Pitting early seems stupid now

Yeah I didn't get it either (pitting early on blacks), but I think it's just the dedicated three-stop strategy, where they will get cleaner air by pitting earlier (the cars are less spread out) and get better lap times. At least that seems to be the logic of the announcers.

I love how Barber is a real two-stop vs three-stop strategy race. They are so rare.

When Grosjean came out of the pits Newgarden had a 16-sec gap on him. After a couple of laps the gap was 17.5 seconds. I don't know what the total time is for a pit stop, but if he can keep that pace up, I think Newgarden might be the favorite to win now.

It's over 21 seconds now! Wow!

OK, they said it needs to be about a 30-second gap.

This kinda sucks. I wanted to see how the strategies played out naturally. That early stop for Newgarden looked pretty aggressive, and I think it was the right call on it's own (without needing yellow help). And now McLaughlin has the advantage because of the timing.

This is the shite missing from F1. Fuel loads, huge tire deg, no one knows what to do. That should also help Ferrari because they have plenty of experience there

Wait, does Grosjean now have the advantage, if he can hold McLaughlin off while McLaughlin's reds are still fresh? When Grosjean pits (earlier than the three-stoppers), will McLaughlin be able to make a gap to stay ahead when he makes his final stop?

Advantages for the three-stoppers are that they need less fuel for their last stop (shorter stop), and they will have fresher tires to push to the end, so the three-stoppers may still have the advantage at this point.

McLaughlin would do better to try to overcut/undercut RoGro. Not sure how strong that is, but he only needs a second.

they are telling him to overcut but he's losing ground now

Well he's coming back now. Groj older tires starting to fade

Scratch that groj pulling away. He just wants this more
