Palou being on lists behind Andretti and Foyt is good company to keep

Palou wins the championship in style with a dominant win.

15 titles for Ganassi racing. Impressive. Could Chip's eyes be any narrower?

With Palou wrapping up the championship last weekend, and Dixon even locking up P2(!) in the championship, I've been pretty unenthused about the Laguna Seca race today.
But I did see this interesting development about a non-championship event next March with a $1M prize for the winning driver. It's going to be at the private Thermal Club for really rich dudes®. And because it's an event created by really rich dudes®, they want to integrate themselves into the action, so some of the details of the event are rather strange.

I think it would be far more interesting to have a similar big-prize-money event for F1 drivers that puts them all in the same car so they (and we) can see how they really stack up.

quote:
While championship points will not be on the line, the event will feature a multimillion-dollar purse. A draw party to begin the event will embed members of The Thermal Club with each race team and driver. The weekend format will include a qualifying session and two heat races, with the top six from each heat advancing to an All-Star showcase. The top five finishing teams will split their earnings with The Thermal Club members, including a $1 million prize awarded to the winner.

Track seems super slick and any sort of dust or tire off is instant 360.

Most guys need a perfect day (qualify up front, no accidents or penalties, solid pit stops, etc.) to get a win or podium.
Not Scott Dixon. Starts 11th due to grid penalty for engine change, has a a lap one collision, and is hit with a drive-thru penalty. That would be the end for most guys, but Dixon just comes up with a new strategy and gets a fricking win out of it.
McLaughlin had a similar day. Hit everything out there and had to change a nose. 2nd place.

That new pavement apparently made everyone lose feel for the track. I’m sure it’ll get cleaned up going forward.
Also, Scott Dixon has just been insane the last few weekends. Just turned it on and found what he’s been looking for a bit too late in the season.
All in all, fun year for the sport. Silly season should wrap up hopefully soon and I’m interested to see where the rest of the pieces fall. Not a Grosjean fan but I do hope he finds a seat somewhere because 1) he brings a huge following and 2) he’s fast when he can keep clean.
