Do you think the tires were the w tire reason they pulled Charles? He must not have liked the idea at first based on his reaction when hoping out of the car. Ferrari sure does make some interesting strategy choices.

Hopefully Aston Martin is the real deal it would be nice to have 4 teams fighting for the top spots
3.5 teams.

The new quali tire rules might have some some altering their strategy as well

Either it's a smart move or Ferrari still thinks they have degradation issues and want to keep it even.
Can't wait for tomorrow

Figured Aston Martin wouldn't be able to keep up.
With Alonso, you only need be in the same arena. Never forget what he did with Renault. His superior driving skill and strategy will do the rest.
He is the true Iceman.
Magic Alonso may be old, but he's still the best driver.

Apparently that is only for a few races this year

Being tested in 2 races this year with potential go-live for 24

The end of Quali was pretty uneventful. Weren’t really any last minute runs like normal with everyone on edge. Leclerc, Alonso, and the Mercs were all done with 2 min left.

Perez made a push, but I think VER gave him a bit of a tow to lock out row 1

I think we're in for another snoozefest season with #1 pretty much locked up already. I do like seeing AM coming around. If they had 2 real drivers they'd be in a good position.

Qualifying Notes
George Russell is driver no. 1 at Mercedes.
Hulkenburg
Sargeant, Albon, the Williams car showed up.
AM will make noise this year but won't beat the big three (3).
Nice lap by Checo.
Nice to see 1.1 seconds covering the grid after Q1.
Alonso is one of the greatest drivers of all time and he's the new Kimi.
LeClerc for the win tomorrow.

This is why I didn't really understand why so many people rooting for Max to win in 2021. With Adrian Newey designing RB's cars and a regs change coming, odds were RB were always going to be the favorites to win both championships for the next few years running. There was no reason to gift Max an extra championship. Now we get to see him win 5 or 6 consecutive WDCs and pretend we enjoy watching it.

So because RB may win the next few championships people should have rooted for Mercedes to win yet another championship?
Merc went 1-2 in 2019 and 2020, so even last year Red Bull wasn’t as dominant as Mercedes had been.

Outside of maybe 2017 and 2018 when Ferrari was going to Ferrari, the only real challenger to Hamilton in the Turbo-Hybrid era was Rosberg. Mercedes was so dominant that the results were pretty much already settled. Switching Rosberg for Bottas took all of suspense out of the drivers championship, as the constructors was already won by Mercedes. Max was the first challenger to push Lewis late in the season.

RBR,Merc, and now RBR again are showing the flaw of locking in formulas for long periods and limiting development.

Dude, Mercedes had won the prior 7 years. If you don't understand how so many people just wanted someone else to win then I don't know what to tell you.
That a lewis Hamilton made a 180 turn to blm came from the slums even though I make $50mil/year personality.
